Navarro ADN-RN program Fall 2012

Hi Everyone :)

Just wanted to start a thread for everyone that's applied to the Navarro College ADN-RN program starting Fall 2012.

Figured we needed a place to post, ask each other questions etc. while waiting on our acceptance letters..... I was told they won't be sent out until the end of May. Has anyone else heard otherwise?

I'm excited too!!!!!! :) Though the day will be long, it is full of different speakers and activities, so it'll be fine I think.

I'm good at matching stuff with pants and shorts, but for some reason I'm just LOST when it comes to matching scrub bottoms...like they're this new technology and I'm a caveman. lol I don't know, I guess the texture throws me off...and the fact that I've never worn black pants. I was totally fine when volunteering cuz it was a uniform I wore every day (royal blue scrub top w/ black scrub bottoms). I think I'm gonna go shop around for scrubs.

I just bought a scrub lot for $17 off forney treasure exchange on fb!!!! 7 tops & 3 bottoms;D I am overwhelmingly excited!!!!!!! It seems as though we have been waiting FOREVER!!! We're meeting where we had orientation right???

I'm not sure of the exact room to look for...I figure I'll just spot a few familiar faces and I'll know I'm in the right room. xD

I'm jealous of y'all's faculty presence & willingness to help outside the classroom. I'm in the Panola ONE program, which means online didactics & weekend/evening clinicals since most of us work. I am a middle school teacher & expected more help from our program's leaders regarding our work schedules, since they marketed the program to working people. Our Skills class was 3 whole weeks, and pharm & intro have been 2 months long...pretty brutal. Just wanted y'all to know how lucky you are to have instructors who seem to be truly interested in each of you personally.

Oh goodness, it's really becomming real now. Tomorrow is just the tip of the iceberg, we'll soon be on our way to RNs! I hope to see some of you there and though we may not recognize each other, I'll definitely be looking for you guys. Does anyone know the exact room number? I'm not super familiar with the Corsicana campus, so I plan on giving myself some extra time to get lost.

mrskennedy, the Bain Center is farther back (I always look for the clock tower). :) It's quite a bit larger than the Hachie location for sure. haha After tomorrow, I bet the rest of our time off will speed by...then before we know it we'll be nurses in the making.

btw I just chose to wear pants. For the life of me, I couldn't find a hoodie to go with the shirt n scrub pants. LOL First world problems, I know.

OK GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I met Red at the orientation but didn't see anyone else! I sat at the back row. Where were you guys? I might have possibly seen RaeAnn, but I wasn't sure.

How did it go today? What instructors did you meet? I absolutely couldn't stand Mrs. VZ in the first semester but now she's my favorite! Don't feel too overwhelmed. I know after the first day, I was really scared and wanted to quit. It gets better. :)

As far as what does everyone wear in lecture, anything you want. By the second or third week, you'll be more comfortable and just wear shorts or sweats and tshirts. We can wear any scrubs for labs and uniform scrubs for clinical days. So have you guys officially started the fall semester? We are finishing up summer 2 and won't start fall until Aug. 27. Did you get your calendars? Was the schedule better or worse than you thought?

Hi mom!! We only had orientation today, class starts on he 27th :) we only met the 2 main ladies (the same ones that do the info sessions)Edit your post to X out the instructor's initials... We got in trouble from the admins on AN for mentioning names/initials etc. apparently it's against AN policy. I like the schedule :) after being told that we had to do 6 weeks/5 days a week to what we were given, I'm relieved :)
