:hpygrp:The court session took all of about 10 minutes. It's official she's coming home with me next week if she's recovered enough!! When I got back to the hosp. I ran to her room to tell her. Oh my gosh she smiled and cried and then asked a million questions about my house and kids. Today has made all the emotional turmoil I've put myself through the last 2 weeks so worth it. Thank you to every single person who has said a prayer for her and for us.

I'm So happy things worked out!!:redbeathe I wish you and your family all the best. not only for the new year, but for the many years to come. :heartbeat

She's still doing great, kept me up late with knock knock and why did the ----cross the road jokes. My favorite so far..Why didn't the skeleton cross the road? He didn't have any guts! I almost fell out of my chair. I lying next to her rubbing her forehead to get her to fall asleep and must've fallen asleep myself so she proceeded to tickle under my arm and my nose. It was so precious. I think we are making huge steps towards a wonderful relationship. My kids come back from winter break today so we will all meet with the therapist so she can help with their initial meeting. I'm sure it will be fine. She is excited, as will be my kids. I'm just ready to get her out of here. It's a different feeling being in a pt. room for day on end instead of running my rear off on the floor.

I forgot to ask in last post have any of you ever had to testify about one of your pts. in criminal case? wondering what to expect.

I'm one of only a handful of Pediatric SANE nurses employed by the hospital system I work for.

I can't offer any suggestions on what to expect. Because of the how & when she shared the information you won't be called to testify in a professional capacity regarding the information.

I'll be honest, I cringed at the handling of the video, it's a broken chain of custody. I hope the defendants do NOT have a good attorney or that the laws of your state are very different than the ones I practice in.

I too have concerns over the video but I just did what was asked of me. I didn't ask her or coach her about what happened she just started talking. I too hope this doesn't cause a problem. I couldn't handle it if these creeps get away with it because I've something i've done. Hopefully the physical evidence will just speak for itself. I cannot bear the thought of me being the one to let them go free..I 'm sorry I have to get off of here for now. Thanks for the concern

I would not stress myself out thinking you could possibly have had a hand in it if GOD FORBID these IDIOTS are not found guilty. Try not to even go there! Keep us updated! Glad the visit with your kiddos went well.

I am trying not to stress too much yet it is difficult not to. It never occured to me that the detective handling the case could have messed up by the handling of the video. I just assumed it was fine since he asked me to do it.

I cannot imagine them getting away with it when there is so much physical evidence. It's not one of the she said he said type cases that often end with the perp getting away with it. ugghh....

She is still doing well, I'm not able to spend all of my time up there with her now that my kids are back home, but I sat with her while they were in school and I will call throughout the night to check on her and reassure her that I'll be back in the morning.

Seems like the evidence is pretty overwhelming in this case. Don't stress about your role in this. If anyone needs to take responsibility, it's the detectives who set up the video taping.

Here's a thought that might give you a bit of comfort. It could well be that showing this video tape to the perpetrator(s) and the attorneys might give them a chilling look at what they're up against. The horrendous injuries coupled with the child's first person account might lead them to cave in and avoid a trial all together.

Put it out of your mind for now. I find it hard to believe that the God who blessed you both and brought matters this far will fumble the ball now.

Enjoy the good possibilities of this new and exciting relationship.

Thank you so much for the support. I cannot imagine them getting away with the torture they have put this precious child through. I am just so sensitive about this whole ordeal that the post mentioning the case was in jeopardy threw me into a guilt stricken panic mode I guess. I've had a gut feeling that a guilty plea/plea bargain will be made before trial begins. There's just no way for him to explain what else could've happened to her. Thanks again for lifting my spirits. Please continue the prayers.
