My stack of books was taller in RN school than in NP school

Published

I have been pondering this question for around 2 years now. I still have been unable to provide myself with a reasonable answer to this question. My stack of books was probably about 1 foot taller in undergraduate. This is an anomoly of the universe. I really am having much trouble exploring this question. The only two reasons I can come up with is 1. money for the book making companies. 2. Overkill regarding the amount of materials they expected us to read (I never used anything except my medsurg, peds, ob book). This question is probably on par with the meaning of life question that has been in contemplation for many thousands of years...

Can somebody please help me?

Oh my God, so I just got an image of an older nurse (because of course I don't know what Grntea looks like) twerking and almost snorted out my nose.

I didn't know you could do that, but now I do. So thanks for that. :p

I have no idea how old she is but I do know she is very wise. And funny. And sarcastic. And I like that. lol

Meh. You can spot the English major in the book line from a mile away. They are the ones you can't see over the 10 foot stack they are carrying. The number of books does not the difficulty of the major make. (Or some such convoluted sentence as that.)

Love,

You can just not post in it & let it fall to page 2 or 3.

You don't have children, do you? Sure, you can try to call them on being intentionally annoying at 18 (after it's gone on a number of pages / years), but how well does that work? Let them know you've heard this song before and can name it in three, or possibly two notes (at 12 or 13), and it's more likely to have the effect you desire than letting them have the reinforcement of years of eye rolling or argument they sought to provoke. :)

My BSN program was 4 years of an undergrad degree where I had to take courses such as History, Philosophy, Theology, Theatre. Were I to go back to grad school, there would be no such core courses and the program would be 2 years shorter. I also wouldn't naively believe that I needed to purchase every book on the list.

I'm considering pursuing a Master's degree, but only have storage space for a 26" high stack of books. Can someone recommend a good program?

I tried twerking and failed miserably at it. Now it's like this giant Mt. Everest thing that I must master. Why can I graduate nursing school but not master simple, terrible body movements?

Anyway, I agree about the foundational concepts stuff. You got the basics, which required more reading materials, and now you're building off all that.

GrnTea, your initial post in this thread made me picture grumpy cat. Not sure why, really, but I love grumpy cat, so it's all good.

I wouldn't do some of what she does in public, but don't ever let anybody make you think that little twerky-twerps like what'shername have better sex than crusty old bats just because they wear smaller clothing.

;) You all should be so lucky! ;)

Returning to your difficulty imagining: We all know that younger people on't have the perspective older ones do, and they have the hardest time believing that there's really nothing new under the sun.

But you will be older someday too. Twerk away, but the real thing does nothing but get better. Whatever it is that you do now is just ... practice for later life. :) Give yourself something to look forward to!

Man, I don't peek in on this thread for a couple of days, and all I can say is....MY EYES!! MY EYES!!! ACKK!!!

Oops, a word got lost in there, I meant to say that I almost snorted chips out my nose. And yes Grntea, I know that old people have sex too, and don't doubt abilities or quality.

What I was snorting food out out my nose over was the idea that an older respected nurse would be doing something as trashy as twerking.

i agree with chillnurse. only books we really ended up reading pretty routinely was family/peds and community. the rest, all test materials came from lectures...
