In one to two months I will be taking my exam, this thread is an online log to track my progress.I figure if I do it on my own, it will be most likely to FAIL. So Im here, taking all the risks. I know its hard to do it on my own, so I need some encouragements from everyone here (if possible).
So far, I gathered all the resources I need:
Books: LaCharity, Saunders, Kaplan and (to purchase) NCSBN online review.
Place; I mostly can focus on a not-too-noisy places, Library is one of my fave.
Lastly, to everyone who will be taking taking there exam this coming May or June,
I wish you all luck!
In the end, our strong faith to ourselves and the Divine will make us all reach success!
Cheers!
I'm back from vacation~ nice to get away for a couple days but OH BOY back to reality now!! I have 7 days of study time left (will not study next Weds, the day before my test) so this is CRUNCH TIME!!
I only managed to look through my med cards on the way down Saturday eve, and did 125 questions Sun-Tues .. not great but better than nothing I suppose. My upcoming week is very busy and I'm starting to stress about studying and getting it all in!
Plan for the next week is:
Today (Weds)
Do 200 questions from my Mosby comprehensive review book + review rationale
Look over med cards
Thurs
Have an appointment until 10:45
Do 75 ques from mosbys book
Test drive to my site and get familiar w/ directions, time etc
Do 150 more ques from mosby
Look over med cards
Fri
Unfortunately have to work ALL day .. hopefully will get some time to look over med cards at least
Probably will only get in 50 ques max if possible
Sat
Another day of work until about 6pm .. plan to do 100 questions when I get back,
look over medication cards and my pharm notes
Sun
An entire day for studying (yay!)
I plan to do 50 ques each in mosby from pedi, ob & psych
Then review more medications
Look up areas I scored low in
then another round of 50-100 random questions on PrepU
Mon
Doctors appt at 11:30 so I will bring med cards to look over before & while waiting
After that, will do the comprehensive exam in mosbys and look up areas I scored low in
Go over more med/pharm stuff
Tues - LAST STUDY DAY!
Plan is to just review content wherever I am weak
Do as many questions as possible (250 minimum) on PrepU
and just study all day.
Weds .. day before the test. Still not sure what exactly I'm going to do, but all the reviews I've gone to and my teachers have said do not study the day before. I might try to go to the gym (haven't been there in months!!) maybe catch a movie, clean up the house, make dinner.. and get to bed early.
Good luck to everyone! Test day will be here before we know it!!
CourtneyH: Great plan! I like the idea of cutting off the studying for the day before the exam. It probably will be good to just clear your mind and relax.
I got my ATT today! I have scheduled and rescheduled (stalking the Pearson website) and have a test date of June 19th, 2 hours away from here. That gives me 5 days!

Guess I know what I'm studying this weekend...
Ohio, Thank you! My review instructor highly recommended taking the 24 hrs prior as "off" time. No drinking (not even 1 glass of wine to relax!), no partying, just take some time to turn off the study mode, relax and go in refreshed and ready to roll! Good luck to you in your studies!
Today I did 175 questions out of my Mosby book... not great %s (50-68!!!). I'm not familiar with the Mosby stuff, so idk if these are harder questions or what. I did much better on my saunders, prepU and even ipad apps Maybe those aren't hard enough though.
The next 2 days are very busy for me with work (horrible timing, I know) so I'm trying to get as much review in as I can! Books and study cards will be coming with my for any chance of down-time review! Good luck to everyone going into this weekend, make the most of your time!

Goodluck to all in this thread, i havent really replied to all of u but great to have u aboard!!
We become what we think about!!! :))
OhioITNurse: What a relief to get your ATT!!!
Courtney H: I am going to not study the day before my exam too. Everyone I've talked to says you don't learn or retain anything by that point, so studying would be just giving me more anxiety.
mcunanan: My birthday is the day after yours! NO WAY!
So orientation is going really well, except my hospital asked me to move up the date of my NCLEX because my original date was very close to the end of classroom training/moving to just on the floor on my own. So I rescheduled it for July 13. Literally as I was about to type this entry the hospital called again because they are making my training schedule with preceptors and wanted to make sure I had the day off to take NCLEX. The person I spoke with said I would have classroom training July 12, so I guess I really won't be studying!
I have been generally scoring in the 60's for all of my tests in my studying, and when I talked to someone at work about it, she told me she always scored really low on study tests too, but she passed her NCLEX. She thought her practice tests were much harder than the NCLEX. I sure hope that is the case because I am trying not to feel bad about my low scores!
Thanks for the updates, they are keeping me motivated!
Hi guys! I have been studying kaplan oh gosh its super hard for me, trying hard to focus. Its kind a frustrating! But yeah just doing daily kaplan and im on my case study section on PDA..
Goodluck..lets keep studying..
We got this.
Well. I wasn't thrilled with the exam times available to me in my area (the earliest being mid July), so I scheduled in a city 2 hours away for the 27th. Last night, before I went to bed, I double-checked my area and there was an opening here. For tomorrow at noon. I took it.
What was I thinking?!
So no break day for me since I want to try to finish up at least one of the study guides I set out to do before I sit the exam. I did a couple of practice tests with NCLEX 3500 and scored horribly (65%) both times, so now I'm really scared. It's too late to reschedule again, so either way, I'll know if I prepared enough by this time tomorrow.
