Well at thirty years old I figured I had at least another 40-50 years before I was faced with this but it seems like I may have a Uterine Prolapse. I have been pregnant 5 times and carried 4 children to term. I go to the Doctor tomm to verify this and see what my treatment options are. It really dont matter though because I have no insurance and no money for surgery. I can feel and see it at the lady partsl opening but dont know if it is the bladder or cervix. I know this, it is completly blocking the opening and enlongates by the minute. Maybe it will just fall out on the floor and i wont have to worry about it unless its my bladder then I will put it in a bladder bag and keep on going...:rotfl: :rotfl: Gotta have some humor. I was reading that it takes 4-6 weeks to recover from surgery. Now, how am I going to feed my kids and keep the lights on if I dont work. This is just one big mess for me. I dont have the finances to get the surgery and then cant go around for the next 40 years with a pessary or a bladder bag...Any comments are appreciated

Been where you are & it is awful. The pessary...nope it was worse! Sorry about no insurance I hope something will work out. The surgery did the trick for me..I felt sooo much better. Good luck to ya!

You go girls and boys!!! Gotta love nursing. I got a good story about a HUGE rectal prolapse!!

Anyway, back to the subject at hand...

I cannot believe that there would not be any financial support for people needing surgery. I'm in Canada, so different system, but nonetheless, it really bugs me that you would have to fork out big bucks for surgery and then still have to find the cash to support yourself while while recovering. Women here have a minimun 6 months off after having a baby, at almost full salary. You can take another 6 months at 60% of your pay, and some employers will pay the difference. Same kind of system is available for sick time as well.

OP- I wish you all the best and a winning lottery ticket!!!

Are you serious? Six months??? That would be wonderful to spend that much time with your new baby. And if an employee decides to do the whole year the employer can't do anything about it, right? Maybe I should move to Canada.

Anyway, back to the OP. Definitely check out state aid. Also, where I work if an employee is off with medical problems there is a voluntary program where other employees will donate their paid time off hours. It has kept alot of people afloat. You don't mention a husband so I assume you're not married. I know this surgery must be super expensive but ask if you can make payments. I know that doesn't really help pay the bills while your off. I'm not too familiar with your problem--I'm a student, but what would happen if you don't have surgery soon?

I can sort of understand your dilemma. I want to have major surgery to get rid of my ulcerative colitis(J pouch procedure). Although I have insurance I don't see how I will pay my bills when I'm not working.

I wish you well and know that I will be thinking of you.

oh my god, im a 20 yr old male considering nursing and that is the single most troubling thing i have every heard.dude could you please put like warnings around your posts or something? i wasnt even expecting anything like that when i clicked!

This is the most troubling thing you've heard? If you're considering nursing and this bothers you, you may want to consider becoming a CNA just to make sure this is the career that's right for you. I'm not saying this to be mean but to help you. You need to be comfortable taking care of both sexes in order to be a good nurse.

BTW, what about men? Don't you think us women had a little trouble doing peri-care on an uncircumsised male for the first time?

Like a open faucet... and it gets worse by the min. When I cough, sneeze or make major sudden movements. And then there have been times I have just been sitting and can feel urine dribbling out. It will just get worse before better.

Are you having incontinence with this as well?

:o OMG I can't believe that you have to wait until you have saved up the money to have this procedure done. Makes me feel very fortunate that we have one of the best health care systems in the world. Everyone here gets the medical treatment they require whether they be rich or poor in a private health fund or not. Granted we do have a waiting system here and depending on the type of procedure required depends on the time you would have to wait. We have private hospitals and if you have private medical insurance then of course you can have any procedure done sooner but in the public health system you will have your problem fixed in time and not cost you a cent.

Do you not get sick leave pay in your job? Unless you are a casual worker here we are entitled to X amount of weeks payed sick leave.

I wish you all the luck and hope you can have done what is needed at minimal cost to you and your childrens welfare.

Chin up

I would think that there's got to be some way to get this procedure covered, i mean, it's got to be hard to earn a living when you have to change pads often, not to mention the expense of the pads.

Once you find a gyn doc, maybe they can give some info to get this covered.

I'm sorry i didnt mean to offend, i know in nursing these are the kinds of things you deal with, but this is the first time ive ever, you know heard detailed medical talk. I'm sure ill get over it as i get used to it, iwell i hope so, i fainted both times i had blood tests and i can get a queasy stomach just reading the iv threads like the other one about ivs and cathaders. But i mean that fortitude is something your aquire right? I'm just wondering how does a baby 'destroy your insides'? and to txspadequeen, i hope it works out for you, your too young for these problems

I'm sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Waiting until tax time is an option, but if you can find a resource sooner that would be better. I hope this doesn't affect your ability to work and provide for your 4 beautiful children :o . Does your hospital have a payment plan on a sliding scale? I know that our general hospital has one for lower income and one income families with dependents. The more "deductions/dependents" you have, the lower your monthly payments are. I hope everything works out. (((HUGS)))

I wish you health and healing, Tx.

I think it's mostly luck, although childbirth does affect all of us to some extent. I have slight rectocele and slight cystocele ~ enough to make it hard to get a tampon in, but nothing more, no incont or anything. I feel fortunate. I hope you get the help you need! Sending good thoughts your way!:)

The fortitude does come with time. About how a baby makes things different...the added weight and expansion of the abdomen greatly increases intra-abdominal pressure, non stop for roughly 6 months. This moves the bladder, urethra and any related structures into a position that they aren't normally in. Just like the tendency for some women to get stretch marks while others don't. The skin and underlying structures are stretched, including the lady partsl walls/muscles during labor and sometimes they don't return to their pre-pregnancy state due to trauma, loss of elasticity, etc. There is no way to predict who will or won't have problems later down the road. HTH!
