Well at thirty years old I figured I had at least another 40-50 years before I was faced with this but it seems like I may have a Uterine Prolapse. I have been pregnant 5 times and carried 4 children to term. I go to the Doctor tomm to verify this and see what my treatment options are. It really dont matter though because I have no insurance and no money for surgery. I can feel and see it at the lady partsl opening but dont know if it is the bladder or cervix. I know this, it is completly blocking the opening and enlongates by the minute. Maybe it will just fall out on the floor and i wont have to worry about it unless its my bladder then I will put it in a bladder bag and keep on going...:rotfl: :rotfl: Gotta have some humor. I was reading that it takes 4-6 weeks to recover from surgery. Now, how am I going to feed my kids and keep the lights on if I dont work. This is just one big mess for me. I dont have the finances to get the surgery and then cant go around for the next 40 years with a pessary or a bladder bag...Any comments are appreciated

don't have any advice, just sending good HEALTHY thoughts your way. I am in the no insurance boat currently myself and trying desperately to remedy it before nursing school starts, as i am sure i will get sick. We are self employed and so it is difficult to find a plan that is worthwhile.

You might just need a pessary to hold it back in place. Much less traumatic than surgery- like getting a diaphragm fitted.

Is there any way you can apply for medicaid to help pay for this surgery? Our hospital has some type of a program (they call it community care or something like this) it will choose several cases to pursue without cost. Can you visit your local hospital(s) and see if they can help you. How about planned parenthood? I know they deal with reproductive issues...maybe they can refer you somewhere for low to no cost??
I sure wish I was independently wealthy!! I really would take all the money and give it to help people in situations like yours. I truly, truly would!! Good luck and you will be in my thoughts!!

I'm 24 and in decent shape, had 2 children and I had to have all my innards repaired after my son. VH with A&P repair. I still wonder if me pushing when his shoulders were straight up and down (stuck behind bone) caused all that. Anyhow, I had my surgery on a thursday, took the next week off and went back to work. I did great and the only reason I regret not taking my full allowable time is because I was somewhat being a martyr. None of the other nurses would have even attempted coming back that soon, but I was made to feel really guilty about being out. Oh, I also did kegels faithfully for over a year without improvement. Good luck!
Thanks for your reply. After I get done at the doc this am and find out what needs to be done I will start calling. I know planned paernthood does BTL but I dont know about Hyst or A&P repairs. I will check with the hospitals and such. My friend told me she had to have a endometriosis surgery and medicaid covered it, so Ill check on that as well... thank you

I guess I could consider this until I could get all of it repaired. I didnt want one because I am 30 years old and still have sex from time to time, I dont know how a pessary effects that. Just the thought of wearing one at 30 years old makes me feel old. But you know ,you do what you have to and this may be the option I have to take until I have the financial resources to get repaired. Do you know how a pessary effects sex or if it will fall out with lots of activity? This is something I truly dont have much knowledge on. Thank you
When I had my last baby ,had her on Friday and came back to work on Monday. DIdnt have a choice I coudnt feed my kids. So I know how you feel.

I wish you the best! A sense of humor is great in times like this isn't it?
I believe that you can have intercourse with a pessary in place. My hubby has an ileostomy at 31 and he is doing fine with it, and it hasn't slowed us down a bit:) If you end up with a pessary or a bladder bag, it not the end of the world, just the beginning of another. I am sure that you will do just fine:)

Um. Welcome to the world of nursing if nothing else. We don't get ANY warning as to what we're going to find when we walk into a room when the pt decides to get creative on us!:chuckle
