Gender neutral gone too far -- removing "Mr and Mrs" aka male and female species. Why not just add "Potato Head" for those who desire gender neutral play.
Guess, I'm not up of current children's play toys thinking, as I loved Mr Potato Heads mustache. Able to eat wax candy version as a kid....sigh, another childhood memory robbed from today's children. ---loved playing with the wax red lips too.
Still available Wack-O-Wax mustache + lips --now part of the Tootsie company.

I don't know ... kinda like dropping the 'Donuts' from 'Dunkin Donuts' name. It's still 'Dunkin Donuts' to me! :)
I personally think that libs are really off the reservation with this constant policing of everything and everyone. They are regulation mad and with the political correctness have really lost the plot.
They never consider their own deficits re the impulsive decisions they make and that it's their own hangups driving their insecurities. They are alienating themselves from everyone!
Everything seems to be at an extreme level. What's the difference between the the far right ignorant decisions and what lefty libs are trying to achieve. They are taking up causes of the affected people that the aggrieved doesn't seem to want. Then use the same ploy as the far right when disagreed with.
I can tell you that personally I still don't understand the different genders and I have no interest in learning either. Whatever someone wants me to address them as, is fine with me. If they wish to be a giraffe and wants that acknowledgement, fine with me. I have no opinion re what someone wants to identify as, as long as that person doesn't try to draw me in. I will respect them equally as I would anyone else but it's their lifestyle.
I don't like the imposition of trying to educate me. Is an African pygmy or an Australian aborigine any different from us? We treat them with the same respect as the next door neighbor. So why is there a push to categorize LGBT people?
I think that highlighting the differences is actually creating the conflict. Anti LGBT people does exactly that in their minds to fuel their animosity.
They've done the marketing and it's a business choice plain and simple. I'm sure they understood they would get some clap back. The generation that is currently having children are different and raising their children different.
“Hasbro is helping kids to simply see toys as toys, which encourages them to be their authentic selves outside of the pressures of traditional gender norms,” said Rich Ferraro, GLAAD’s chief communications officer, in a statement.
It may or may not be a mistake, time will tell. God knows you baby boomers made some mistakes raising your millennials. LOL
Times and attitudes change and there is always some resistance. I remember my mother signing her checks "Mrs. D.D. (dad's initials) Last Name (dad's last name)" and omitted her name altogether.
I have no real strong opinion about it myself.

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. It's how people get acknowledged that they exist and deserve the same rights. It's how the glass ceiling gets lifted. Getting rid of gender norms is why we have female sports casters, airline pilots and fire fighters. It's important even if it's uncomfortable.
Pushing that envelope even farther with new gender norms gives visibility to the invisible and removes shame.
Yes, it fuels some animosity such as Rand Pauls recent comments about "gender mutilation" at the Rachel Levin hearing. I'm all for it.
People were uncomfortable with African Americans sitting at the counter and fueled the animosity of white people. So be it.

Actually it does increase conflict but I don't thanks that's a bad thing and I agree that these issues should be continued to be highlighted. People shouldn't be forced into the closet for fear of creating conflict.

Of course...but it's not the facts and information "highlights" that cause the conflict, it's the violent intolerance of the facts and reality that cause the conflict.

It's not categorizing, it's identity. Gender is a complex part of one's identity, it always has been, and it's simply not cut and dry. LGBT folks, we've been here in the shadows for a very long time and society is finally allowing us to step out and actually be identified. People are finally expressing their sexuality and gender in ways they haven't been able to because of society's attitude. Education on being trans is an imposition? Are you afraid you're going to catch something and start wearing dresses? I'm sure non binary and gender fluid folks are a real big imposition as well. It is completely fine to not understand and even not agree, but to not even want to try to understand, that wreaks of phobia. After all of your posts that I've read from you, I sincerely doubt that you are truly transphobic.

There's nothing wrong with identifying as a Mrs. or Mr. and there's nothing wrong with not identifying as either! I don't see how inclusive language or language that is respectful to the person's identity is disintegrating the institution of marriage. I always though divorce was the main driver of that. When gays wanted to marry we were told for years that our hellfire fueled weddings would forever taint the institution of marriage and ruin it for the men and women already married. Well, that didn't happen. And I don't think anyone's marriage is gonna be ruined because Potato Head is gonna be gender neutral so that kids can make it what they want.
The "disintegration of marriage" actually started with the rise of the Women's Movement and sexual freedom of the 60's and 70's by boomer women. Women were no longer assigned to the kitchen and subservient towards men. Wasn't it sometime in the 80's that stats showed 50% of marriages ended in divorce. Perhaps this is women just saying they aren't putting up with crap for the sake of a marriage.
Men have changed as well, they were allowed to participate and be present for the birth of their children, became nurses, and even stay at home dads.
Life marches on and what is normal today won't be tomorrow.
While watching Smerconish show today, Gallop survey released Wednesday, noted more U.S. adults are identifying as L.G.B.T., 5.6% overall with Gen X self reporting 15.9%. The advocacy of the LGBT community since late 50's/60's surely has helped to de-stigmatize persons to live as their true selves.

More U.S. adults identifying as LGBT than ever before
According to Gallup, the number of adults identifying as LGBT is on the rise, especially among Generation Z - those 18-23. What are the factors behind this shift, and is it generational?

The kids get to choose the gender? Shouldn't the potatoe head be the one who decides what gender they identify as?
