Moving to arizona with my husband and two teenage girls :coollook: we are really excited and wondered if there are any nurses out there who would like to tell me of their experiences with living and working in Arizona.

Now come on on't be shy  if your lke me carn't stop me talking once I start :rotfl: .

hi belinda :)

originally my CES report was sent to florida now with moving to Arizona and a job offer for St Joesephs paid the CGFNS to re-isssue report to new mexico board of nursing as requested by ogrady peyton (NMboard of nursing has shortest prossesing time) all CGFNS had to do is send the report to them and i paid $50.00 for the service I rang them tues waiting on the phone for 55mins :angryfire to ask why they are asking me for all my documents again when a reissue was asked for :uhoh3: , the guy hadn't a clue, he said he would pull my file and see why or were the report re-issue was and ring me back and im still waiting!!!!!!! :angryfire :angryfire

Dear Betty Boop,

I made the same transfer that you are about to. We moved to Phoenix in July from London.. And my fiance and myself are working at St Joes.

I will give you any help that I can to make the transition helpful. Just PM me with any queries and I will set aside some time to answer them for you. There are quite a few Brit nurses here, who are you travelling with? Look forward to hearing from you.

Good newse, hubbie sent a megga stroppy e-mail to head person at CGFNS explaining all of the messing about endless emails and telephone calls with rude members of staff, guess what the managed to find all of our documentation and complet the report on hubbie and almost completed mine small hicup which we are handling, all in one day unable to do anything for six months unbeliveable.

So now on to the exam we will be able to sit in london so thats good.

Belinda, I am not a nurse yet but I am originally from Preston and have lived in AZ since 1988. There isn't much I don't know about this state so if you have any questions I am glad to answer them.

Hi bettyboop...

I lived in AZ most of my life- 33 yrs. Just moved to Oregon a couple of months ago.

AZ is a beautiful place! Unfortunately you picked the "armpit of AZ" to move to: Phoenix.

But, let not your heart be troubled. A few hours drive in any direction and you are guaranteed to be in a lovely place: Sedona, Flagstaff, the White Mountains, the Grand Canyon, the Navajo reservation with is beautiful sandstone formations and slot canyons... and many many more.

If you are into culture... maybe AZ will not be your "bag." AZ has quite a mixture of people: rednecks, bourgeois, hippies, mormons, generation X, elderly (lots of those), native americans, and a few elitist etc. etc.

I love AZ... but, suspect you may suffer from a culture shock when you first move.

Good luck with your move... and welcome to the USA!

:) Hello

We will hopefully move to Phoenix in early 05 and my dh is from Preston, what a small world :)

Hi Anna,

Have you been given a move date yet, things must be getting close. What part of town are you going to be living in. Are you going to rent an appartment in a complex. Things have started to move a long for us, our boys are sooo excited, and they need new bikes but they are having to wait untill the move. Are you shipping all your goods out, have you found a company and what is the cost?

Speak soon Belinda

Just moved from Tucson to Texas 8 mos. ago after many years on the west coast. Loved Az. - blue sky every day - beautiful mountains - very laid back. If you don't like Phoenix move to Tucson. I only moved because I had to because of my husbands work and my heart is definitely still in Tucson. Don't get me started on Texas...

I'm in the same boat. I'm a native Tucsonan. I had to move to Texas 3 years ago for DH's job. I don't like Texas and I miss AZ very much.

Hi All :)

Finally got CGFNS to send my CES report to new mexico board of nursing

had a phone conference a couple of weeks ago with St Joes Ogrady Peyton and other nurses who are moving to phoenix, St Joes told us how well the new tower is comming along and how they are looking forward to us brits getting out there. The only hiccup was that OGP said NCLEX will be sat in Atlanta still, explained my utter fear  at flying and explained i'd be in no fit state to sit the exam the day after :o they were very understanding and said they would request a London exam instead phew

Contacted pearsons who confirmed the NCLEX is comming to London early 2005 :balloons: .

Feel a bit in limbo at the moment :uhoh3: just want to get the exam out of the way although have already started visa application through OGP but carnt go any further until NCLEX passed :uhoh21: have been getting our house here ready for the market we have decided to put the house up for sale in January but i am only just realizing how much junk around the home we have gathered :chuckle .

I live in Bolton Gtr Manchester not far from Preston so it really is a small world.

Anyway chat soon when i have more info

I was reading up on your progress. Just wondering, do you need to do the CGFNS for Arizona? Im registered with Georgia but plan on going some place warmer Im tired of the cold. All the best and am planning to write in London hopefully January got my TTA already. Just hard to study with a 4mnth old and DH all wanting my attention too. All the best.

Hi Leetenday

everywere i looked at in the USA seemed to want the NCLEX rather than the CGFNS exam a year ago when i first started looking into emmigrating to the states i asked the question which exam? and 100% feedback was NCLEX.

The reason i chose arizona is the misserable damp cold wether in the UK, at first i was going to Florida but after a lot of research my family and I decided on Arizona in particular Phoenix.

Hope this helps

Hi, I cyberknow someone who lives in Phoenix and evidently, the heat is unreal.

ALSO the price of living (food, utilities, gas....in Phoenix is through the roof, according to her. They moved to Phoenix from up North and said they never would have moved there had they known the cost of living. Me, I would have checked it out first but that's just me...)

I was aiming for Flagstaff but got offered Bullhead City, at least you are by the river and looks like Laughlin is pretty nice. Gotta start somewhere, LOL.
