Hi all arizona nurses :)

Thought I would introduce myself I am at present a UK RN but am in the process of moving to USA, Phoenix Arizona to be more precise. Had an interview with St Joesephs last monday and recieved a start date of January 2006 :uhoh3: I know it seems a long way of, but all the immigration paper workd takes forever  .

Moving to arizona with my husband and two teenage girls :coollook: we are really excited and wondered if there are any nurses out there who would like to tell me of their experiences with living and working in Arizona.

Now come on on't be shy  if your lke me carn't stop me talking once I start :rotfl: .

looking forward to reading all about you :)

Hey Congats!!!

I'm just about to move back to UK temporarily until my immigration to AZ is sorted. I was going to Tucson but now I'm going to Bullhead City...right up by Nevada/California/Arizona border.

A word of advice...if you wish to take it...keep on top of the hospital and especially the lawyers. This is your number one priority but it isn't theirs (they have other clients).

Good Luck and I hope you like the heat :)

Just moved from Tucson to Texas 8 mos. ago after many years on the west coast. Loved Az. - blue sky every day - beautiful mountains - very laid back. If you don't like Phoenix move to Tucson. I only moved because I had to because of my husbands work and my heart is definitely still in Tucson. Don't get me started on Texas...

I am also in the process of moving from UK to AZ and I have passed my NCLEX and once I get my CES report from CGFNS I have been told that it should only take 6-8 months so for you to wait longer seems a bit harsh. I have been waiting for my CES since march although I did start the process last year but they are soooo slow and at presently ringing them every week and hopefully will have the certificate by the end of this week but going by their present performance I am not going to hold my breath.

Hope it works out for you.

Hello all

nice to read all your replys pls keep them comming :D

Silverdragon I to began the process last August sent my CES forms to CGFNS and due to my universitys lack of response :angryfire the report was finally completed in June this year. Upto that point I was doing all the paperwork etc on my own :uhoh3: but it was getting really intense  so signed on with an agency over here, and they really are moving along quickly :) I thought you wern't allowed to take the NCLEX till an american board of nursing has given you an Authorrization to test (ATT), that is what I am waiting for at the moment :stone have now been studying hard for the NCLEX for a year :specs: Just want my ATT to arrive so I can finally sit it.

Nice to hear so many positive reports about Arizona :coollook: just carn't wait till we are out there :balloons:

Going to Arizona nxt year for a holiday so we can get a FIX :smokin:

chat some more soon ;)

I was lucky that I was able to take the NCLEX without the CES report as I had previously taken the NCLEX with NY BON. But I still need the CES for AZ BON. This has been ongoing since Last sept. I finally passed my NCLEX this march and combined a holiday in AZ so I could sit it and my DH and I could have a good luck round. Atleast if your ATT takes a while to come from Jan you will be able to sit it in London. I found a good web site http://www.learningext.com which really hepled me put US nursing into perspective and explained well the nursing structure.

WOW...I never realized that AZ was so popular with UK nurses....I guess we get sick of the rain :)

Well we have all just got back from scotsdale, via vegas were me and the hubbie finally tied the Knot, 8 years two kids later, and we had just the best time ever the kids loved it....... we are just in the debts of depression waiting for the cgfns to sort out our paper work so we can get on with our move, but they are so slow...... but not at all things we noticed that they were very efficient at chashing our bankers draft and making sure payment was if full that was months ago since then no word except about three welcome letters............so we have settled ourselves down for a long wait............It will 2006 before we are on our way by the looks of it................

Hi Belinda

Towards the end I was ringing CGFNS every week and finally I think it has paid off. Keep checking online and once it says that they have received everything give it a month and then start ringing. From them receiving everything I have been told you should have the report within 6 weeks and that is what you are told if you ring up. I also agree with you they are very quick to cash the money.

Also Congratulations on your wedding

Did you send it post office recorded delivery? Itr is better sending FedEx or UPS as apparently they open them first, our post office registered delivery is classed as ordinary mail and I have been told it takes atleast 3-4 months to open them.

I haven't been given a date but have atleast finished dealing with CGFNS at the moment (well next 5 yrs :) ) I am just waiting for AZ BON to issue my licence and then the lawyers can put in the paper work for immigration, hoping for 6-8 months and then off we go.

I would suggest keep ringing about once a week and have you told them you have proff that they recieved it?
