And in a recent nursing note, I read (patient with concussion) "Patient is able to do cereal addition". Really? Cheerios + Raisin Bran = ?

Really??? And as far as not correcting people, nursing notes in particular are legal documents. Misspellings and poor grammar are unprofessional and make one look uneducated. Just my opinion.

Not mispronounciations, but I've noticed regional differences in word choice. I'm in the northern US but have family in many different regions of the country.

We say "push" / they say "mash"

(as in push the button)

We say "quit misbehaving or quit acting up" / they say "quit being ugly"

(as in reference to a child's behavior)

We say "you all" or "you guys" / they say "y'all"

We say "couch" / they say "sofa"

We say "pop" / they say "soda"

I had a lady say that I was mashing her arm.I was like , what?? oh ,im pushing on her arm. I apologized of course. I'm a northerner lol
