Microbiology - Fall 2005

Just bought my micro book today, so thought we needed to have a thread.

Classes start August 22. When do yours start?

What text are you using? We're using Tortora.

And are you taking lab too? Our lab is worth 2 credits, and I've heard with the amount of work you need to do, it should be more.

Don't feel like a dork!

I am at Thomas Nelson CC in Virginia... last semester of pre-reqs and I will apply in Feb for the fall program... taking Micro, Sociology, Ethics, and Basic Computer Literacy (online :idea: ) this semester... just hoping my dang knee cooperates with me... I had no choice but to have this surgery between semesters and it was a little more than what I was planning for after it is all said and done... not sure if 6 weeks on crutches is gonna be fun! But hey... I really had no choice!

Finally someone using the same book as me :) I havent broke down and bought it yet though... although I was told by a friend in the same class that our bookstore didnt not have any used versions of it... maybe they will by the time I get there!

*sigh* Monday is fast approaching... dont know if I am really ready to start school again... hopefully everything will go as well as it did this summer!

Book prices are amazing! I think the used version of my book is $108 and that doesnt include the lab book which is almost another $100... top off that by taking 3 other classes and the cost of books is just about as much as my tuition!

Where in upstate are you at capgirl? I was going to be moving up that way last summer (all my family is in the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid area) and would have gone to North Country for my ADN (although you have to get your LPN first)...

I found NEster on Ebay and paid $80- that included the shipping- you should check it out!

Looks like we will have the same lecture... but I am doing my lab Wednesday nights... I was told to do whatever I could to get Spencer for lecture so I rearranged my schedule several times. I havent heard anything (good or bad!) about my lab professor... just know that she is an adjunct member... hopefully she will be as cool as my A&P lab professor but I dont think there are many teachers that are as cool as him...

I will hopefully start TNCC's nursing program next fall... gotta give my knee a year to heal before I will be able to do clinicals.

Hey y'all, looks like I'll be in micro this fall also. Our fall quarter does'nt start until the 26th of september, My school isn't that good about posting infomation about which books are used, they wait until the last minute, Anyway I'm glad we have a thread for micro, I'm already feeling intimidated about this class, thanks for being there!

I'm taking Micro and A&P 2 this semester(Indiana). Classes start the 22. I'm using Microbiology (Tortora). After getting my two oldest daughters off to school this week, I'm starting to get excited about starting classes. 3 weeks between summer and fall classes just don't seem like enough though.

I start August 22 also. I have no idea which book we are using. I am also taking Intro to Social problems, Spanish 1 and World Literature II. Good luck to everyone! :)

I'm taking micro this fall too. Couldn't wait to stand in line for 10 minutes (just to enter the bookstore) only to find out they were out of the book I needed :( I think I am going to buy online next time. I am ready for this semester to begin. The classes this semester are Micro and Psych II. After Fall 05, I will have one class left before entering nursing next Fall. Yeah!!! Good Luck to everyone.

Hey everyone, Im taking micro. this fall. It is my last requirement before beginning clinicals. I have been on this crazy waiting list for a year and a half. I pray I will start the program this January. Good luck to everyone

I'm taking Micro in the Fall as well. I'm new to the site and I'm so glad to see so many other students taking Micro this fall. We are using a book by Robert Bauman, and it was $104 used. I think my used book was 'used' by someone who enrolled and then dropped from the course. It hadn't even been opened! :D

Does anyone know of any good Micro websites? I've got a CD in my book, but sometimes it's not really worth downloading it on your computer.
