Microbiology - Fall 2005

Published

Just bought my micro book today, so thought we needed to have a thread.

Classes start August 22. When do yours start?

What text are you using? We're using Tortora.

And are you taking lab too? Our lab is worth 2 credits, and I've heard with the amount of work you need to do, it should be more.

and even though he cuts us slack, we STILL have people failing out... sad sad sad

I know what you mean about doubting your classmates. I don't know of they're just shy, but my instructor is always asking questions and no one answers but me. I bite my tongue sometimes, not say anything. I admit that I'm not always right, but I have no problem speaking up.

My instructor sticks to the schedule, but she ends up cutting a lot from lectures. It appears sometimes that no one gets it, so it takes longer to explain.

Two weeks of heck on the way!

We just had our final lab quiz today, yipee, got a 10/10! Now onto the lab final next wednesday. I'm only missing 2.5 points in lab so far (out of 180), but they count lab and lecture as one grade, so I still have to try hard.:o

Lets see...Monday I have lecture test #4

Wednesday Lab final

following Wednesday lecture final.

wheew! I wonder what I'll be doing all weekend?

I was actually sad at the end of lab today. I'm weird, I know.

I had a blast in the class and am sad to have it end.

Fun2Care...bet you wish you had my instructor, huh?

Luckily, I have him in lecture too.

So far, my most favorite professor EVER!

I find all of this stuff intriguing!

That, of course, doesn't mean I would ever take another Micro class.

Good luck to all during finals!

lol Woogy. I'm not sure if I would have liked it better if I had taken it during a full semester. I probably would have thought it was boring. lol

As it was, an 8-week MicroSUX class was a nerve-racking time.

I realized today that I haven't been back here to post since the beginning of the semester! I haven't had an opportunity to read everyone's horror story with Micro - but I am so glad to say MINE IS OVER & Early to boot! I ended up with a 98.4 over all and am jumping for joy that is over!!!!!

Now I just have to get through the rest of physio - which has been much more of a horror than Micro ever thought about!

Congratulations to everyone for getting through it. Movin' on!

TM

Congrats to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 1 more week of just lecture ( well I do have lab final Tues but that's just on parasitology).

Then a final...then I am DONE!

WOOOOO-- it's been great girls! Way to go on the great grades as well:)

Oh it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood:). I am DONE with Micro except the final on the 15th.

9 days to study and RELAX!

Yipee!

Yah, lucky you!! I have my lab final tomorrow, then a few lectures with the final on the 14th. I am anxiously awaiting the grade from my test #4 from last night.

Good luck on your final!

We had lab final today (Good GOD was it hard! I studied the lab book front to back, back to front, side to side, a million times over, and she STILL managed to ask questions that were not in it! Grrrrr!) and the lecture final is on Tuesday.

And lucky me, I have to work both Sat and Sun from 7a-7:30p, and a 4 hour shift on Monday. I'd love to call in sick, but since I just started 6 weeks ago, it would look really bad! We have one more lecture on Thursday (supposed to be a review day, but I'm sure she'll just throw new info at us and expect us to learn it) also. Part of the final is take-home questions, which I've already done. But you can be sure I'm bringing all my notecards and books with me to work this weekend, plus I'll be spending Wed and Friday re-listening to lectures.

Oh joy! I can't wait for this to be over with.

You just wore me out! Asprin please!:rotfl:

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Tommorow is my lab final. We reviewed in class yesterday, and it doesn't look to bad. (Famous last words.) Everyone tells us it's the practical and not the written part that's hard.

Then on Thursday I have lecture final. Last lecture today. I managed to misplace my first test. I'm sure I had it Sunday.:uhoh3:

Though I almost wish this semester would not end. I just saw a friend from A&P and she told me that Pharmacology, which I'm taking next semester is dreadful.

Oh well. This will be my first real vacation since I started taking classes last January.

Ahhhh, 98% on test #4 in lecture!!!! SWEET! (The irritating thing is you get mad wondering which one you missed instead of being happy about the grade!)

Now on to studying for my lab practicum, which is today at 2:30. I didn't start studying until last night after the family went to bed. Of course...I fell asleep at the beginning and woke up at 3am.:scrying: I hate that!

So, now to cram...

Next is just two more lectures, so as to stuff me like a Thanksgiving turkey. Then lecture final on Weds of next week. Then off to my 6+ hour orientation! One of two. Second one is only 4 hours:lol2: .

SOMEBODY--------slow down time! I have a lot to study and have to shower still!

Lisa

I'm done with Microbiology!!!:balloons:

Done with Lab on Wednesday. I can't believe I forgot how to pronounce/spell Saccharomyces cerevisiae and couldn't remember the third stage in bacterial growth. Though the funniest moment was when I got to the station where we were supposed to label microscope parts and I was like this microscope isn't working, I can't see anything.:rollOops. Oh well, I'm pretty sure I got my A becuase I had 201 out 202 points before hand.

As for lecture, the final was yesterday. It wasn't bad, though I'm sure I messed up the whole transcription/translation part. It's amazing what happens when you're all nervous and what simple things you forget. But I should still get the A.

Now just one more final, Statistics, ugh, to go.
