Microbiology - Fall 2005

Published

Just bought my micro book today, so thought we needed to have a thread.

Classes start August 22. When do yours start?

What text are you using? We're using Tortora.

And are you taking lab too? Our lab is worth 2 credits, and I've heard with the amount of work you need to do, it should be more.

I always sit in the back. Always have. Always will LOL!

We are in a lecture hall. He does everything on a HUGE screen powerpoint. It's been this way for most of my classes. I HAVE to sit in the back...I could never sit front row- I draw pictures and * zone out* too much because I am not an auditory learner. I have a 4.0 so it hasn't hurt me--- yet:)

I hate complement too....actually I hate cytokines/chemokines more...and IgG , IgE, IgA...etc etc..... I learned all this in A+p 2 but not nearly the depth!

My ENTIRE 3rd lecture test is on adaptive immunity.......uuuggghhhh

I must be a nerd cause I found all that stuff to be interesting! Actually, I really like the class. Although I'm afraid to touch anything now, and I constantly think about how much bacteria there is on everything I see. Hey, I wonder what would happen if I swabbed my laptop keyboard keys.

We just finished our cheese making process and it should be ready to taste after Thanksgiving week. Now I know what curds and whey are. 35 years old, and it took a microbiology class to finally figure it out! By the way, it stinks! But, I love cheese, so I will surely taste my creation! If you don't hear from me after December 1st, there was more than lactobacillus growin' in there.

Woogy

It is interesting... ...I am just NOT an auditory learner. I learn by readiing + writing. My professor is a snooze in lecture so it doesn't help LOL! I LOVE lab though!

I finally figured out what I am going to do for my creative project. I am going to make a Pac-Man board and call it Bac- Man. The little Pac- Man guy is going to be a MAC complement protein! ha ha! All the "ghosts" are going to be gram - bacteria!

That is ingenious! We don't have to do one. Man, I guess I have it easy:lol2:

Ugh 3 weeks left and I can't take this darn class anymore LOL!

We have done all our "labs" so the only thing left are the 2 lab tests. Right now it's like an open lab. We have 1 test tomorrow and the next the following Tues.

Lecture couldn't drag on any slower than it has been. Just 1 quiz ( which will be dropped so I am not stressed over it) and 1 final test left. Come ON Dec 15th!

Basically besides the tests there is no point to even go to campus anymore. We are almost done in lecture and I've already read the darn unit a zillion times. But, no, of course he has it scheduled so EACH and EVERY Tues/Thurs we have SOMETHING due so I have to drag myself up there LOL!

It will be over before you know it.

LONG LIVE MICROSUX! :rotfl:

So I did my calculation today about what I need to get on the final to get an A. I figured out I can get a score in the high 70's and still get an A. :wink2: But I still plan to study all weekend try to get 100%.

Now back to working on my unknown report for lab.

Good luck to everyone as we finish up this semester.

Today we had lab test #5. I got a 46/48. I totally blanked on an in vivo/in vitro question.

I didn't go to lecture...car problems. Thurs we have a quiz in lecture. Next Tues is the last day of lab, lab test, and creative projects are due. Thurs is the last day of lecture....then the final is the 15th.

I am sooooo happy this class is almost over....I need a break!

i am in the final 2 weeks of my micro class. it has been ok. i have made all A's, and discovered both of my unknowns, so im in the clear for now. but our final exam is over 8 chapters.... we have a lot of slackers in our class, and if they mention to the teacher "why dont we just put the test off for another 2 weeks, we all have tests in this and that" so he happily agrees to postpone exams. that is unfair, in my opinion.

the class itself has been interesting, but how much of the information will we really remember??? but, at least my instructor makes the tests REALLY super easy... and even though he cuts us slack, we STILL have people failing out... sad sad sad
