Try Brunner and Suddarth's textbook of med-surg nursing. I am taking med-surg this fall and that's the textbook we use so I purchased it and so far judging by what I've read in it, it's a very easy to understand textbook. Mind you, I have the Canadian edition but I highly doubt that the US one would be worse

I am also using Brunner&Suddarth. It is the 12th edition, the one I used a year and a half ago for MS I and will use again this fall for MS II. I find it easy to understand, and I like the online resources that come with the access code for the Lippincott website. You can even download the NCLEX3500 software for free! (Although it does not work on Apple computers, FYI).
Did you not like the book recommended by your school? Which text did you use the first time around?

I would highly recommend Med Surge Success or the Saunders NCLEX book. Also the Made Incredibly Easy book will help you.
I used medical surgical nursing by Patient-Centered Collaborative Care by Donna D. Ignatavicius and M. Linda . I wanted supplemental text to use. I have been trying to study over the summer so that I can get ahead of the class. Thanks for all ur help.

Let Saunders NCLEX Review Guide be your best friend in Med Surg! Also Med Surg Success and Med Surg Reviews and Rationales. Trust me on this! My one regret is not using Saunders from the beginning. I took my Med Surg Final today, my one regret is not using Saunders from the beginning. I started making As on my exams after using Saunders and Med Surg Success.
I stopped reading it about half way into the semester. Best thing I ever did. Its easy to get bogged down in the Iggy book.
Guys for Medsurg sucess who is the author of the book. I am seeing two different books .

I've been using 7th edition of Medical-Surgical Nursing by Sharon L. Lewis (there are more authors but she's at the top). It's a lot of reading but it breaks everything down for you!! It's a great way to learn :)
