  1. @Pneumothorax What nurse residency programs have you applied for and where?
  2. purple top white pants
  3. I was just wondering how many people have/had nursing internships the summer before their senior year of nursing school? There are about 20 people in my class of about 70 that I know of, and what did you learn? For those of you who didn't, what did/have you been studying or practicing skills over the summer? I'm just curious because I feel like not having an internships I missed out on a lot of learning, what are your thoughts? Thanks everybody!!
  4. @Hawkens I'm the same way--I am very visual! I made flashcards, went to approved medical websites--especially mayoclinic.org helps to breakdown diseases, tests, causes, in a lay person's term, which I found helped me connect the dots. Also, posters for each disease category--causes, definitions, tests, meds, nursing diagnoses, all helped me to learn! And then route memorization! Good luck, I thought study groups were more helpful before finals, just to see what other people found and were studying, good luck!
  5. @RNRNRN1234 It's great to know that not everyone is able to get a job in a hospital or medical care area. I work at a grocery store and understand exactly what you are getting at, such as I know I'm not working at a bed side but I have been able to work on communication and interacting with people of all ages. AND leadership is a big role in any area of work!! Thanks again :)
  6. I do it sometimes. Especially when I do well on a test--I did well so I want to put it out there.
  7. I'm also going to be a senior this fall and I did not get an internship, so I bought a B/P cuff and have been practicing full body assessment and B/P when I can and am going to start just going over skills and body systems with my books. Did you get an internship?
  8. I bought my stethoscope through Littman's and it wasn't shrink wrapped!
  9. 20 pages is excessive! For our care plans our professors said 2-5 pages.
  10. I've been using 7th edition of Medical-Surgical Nursing by Sharon L. Lewis (there are more authors but she's at the top). It's a lot of reading but it breaks everything down for you!! It's a great way to learn :)
  11. What exactly is a nursing residency program? Are the programs a way to gain experience in the nursing field as a new graduate? Also, does any one know of any nursing residency programs in Minnesota? And last question (sorry), when do you apply for them? Thanks!
