Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!
Just now, Elizabethg said:Yes, yes, and yes LOL. I made sure I did everything even the optional essay.
I still have prerequisites to do and didn’t do the optional essay or addendum ? I feel like that would affect my application I didn’t think it was too important ugh im overthinking everything now.

Hey yeah, I did the addendum and optional essay, I felt like I had to discuss a few topics that I couldn't address in the other essays without going too off topic and within the writing parameters. I was able to complete my pre-reqs this Summer.

Trust me! we all have that same feeling right now. Im in the same boat as you, and not trusting a thing I wrote anymore (even though it took me 2 months and countless proof-reading), I legit cannot sleep at night! But theres a reason why they allow you to complete the pre-reqs after the application cycle, Im sure they have some policies in place for this and how to take all of that into consideration. Crossing my fingers for us! We got this!

You are so right ! But I know many people took advantage of every component in that application like the addendum and optional essay but I didn’t because I didn’t really think much about it. And being an average student I should’ve used it. But at this point it is what it is. My video essay was definitely not great either

Im sure not everyone used every component in the application. If you feel that atleast your personal statement is strong then you shouldn’t worry. I know many of us feel the same about the video essay, I was definitely rambling ? but we put our best into that application ! I personally wasn’t going to do the optional essay. However, I ended up doing it like 25 mins before the application deadline so I know that essay was not the best since it was rushed. Everything is already in, it’s just the waiting game now. I wish us alll the best of luck !

I went to the info sessions and they said not to do the optional essay or addendum unless there's something important that doesn't fit in other aspects of the app because a lot of time it takes away from ppls apps not adds to it

However, most of the other schools I applied to were BSN programs so I submitted my FAFSA as an undergraduate student. The email from CUSON stated that our application should be as a graduate student. I emailed them for clarification since I applied to different kinds of programs but was wondering if anyone had already asked this question/received an answer from the financial aid office. I will update once I get a response!
Hi, hope you're doing well!!
Did you happen to get a response from the financial aid office? I'm in a very similar position to you!!
Thank you!!

Hi! They got back to me and basically said that you can update your FAFSA and then only put Columbia on it (and say you're a graduate student) and the update will only send to Columbia. The other schools will still have your info but not the updated info so it will only impact your aid at Columbia.

As in remove the other schools except Columbia?
