  1. I had zero research experience. The only relevant experience I had on my resume was emergency department scribing for 8 months. I think the personal statement weighs heavily because besides my grades, that was the only redeeming quality I had on paper.
  2. Hey guys! Does anybody know the exact dates the program starts/our first day? I also saw that there was already an accepted students FB group but can’t find it through the search bar - if anybody has the link to it, I’d love to join and chat with some of y’all!
  3. Hey, congrats on your acceptances! I’m personally not on the same boat, but I did consider this scenario, as I also considered applying to JH. NYC and MD are pretty distinct environmentally. They’re both major cities, but the atmosphere is very different - so take that how you want. The cost of living will also differ, but NYC rent is pretty reasonable for the area currently, IMO (I live in downtown Boston, so I may just be biased). Columbia has the #1 DNP program in the country, but I think the JH MDE program ranks higher than CU; depending on which career route you’re considering, I’d take this into consideration - one school may favor students who completed their MDE program more when considering them for DNP. They’re both great programs, so there’s not really a wrong choice.
  4. Does anyone know if Columbia sends out physical acceptance letters in the mail as well, or if the email is all?
  5. Accepted into the MDE program! Had a 2.23 GPA before transferring (3 years), and currently a 3.98 at my new school (2 years) where I’ll be graduating from and have most of the prerequisites completed. Worked as an emergency department scribe in a level 2 trauma for 1 year, and completed my EMT-B training in NH.
  6. As in remove the other schools except Columbia?
  7. Does anyone have an idea on when decisions will be released?
  8. I submitted on 10/15, which is why I’m surprised they’re already going through my app!
  9. This afternoon, somebody from admissions contacted me about a few prereqs they had questions about and she told me that she forwarded my application for faculty review. Just a few minutes ago I received this email from admissions: Dear Hilsa, As you progress through the application process, it is always our aim to keep you informed on your progress. Your application has passed the initial admissions review and is complete. We will now forward your application to the Faculty Admissions Committee. We will keep you updated as the process continues. If you are currently completing coursework, we will email you in the near future on how to submit these grades. If you have any questions, please let us know. We look forward to reviewing your application and wish you good luck. Kind Regards, Office of Admissions Columbia University School of Nursing — Is anybody else on the same boat? Columbia’s my dream school and I applied mostly for giggles, so I didn’t really look into prior forums on how the admission process goes and if this is just a generic email.
  10. Hey guys! Sorry if this was already answered––do we all have the same video essay prompt? If so/not, what are some examples? Also, we only have 60 seconds to answer the question, is that right?
