Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

Lol definitely way too early. But not too early to start prepping your app (PS, LOR, etc..) good luck!

Do you you guys happen to know if there is a personal statement required? I have looked all over the website but I can’t find any prompts. It says that the prompts are in the application, a few of the other schools I am applying to give you access to the application so you can prepare for the prompts. I have no clue?

Yes, there is! They had a virtual information session yesterday and said a personal statement of 2 pages is required!

I'm not sure yet. At first, I just wanted to apply the MDE because of cost, and I'm coming from out of state but they recommended we apply to MDE/DNP so I'm considering it! What about you?

So the question for our PS we had to answer is.. why at this point in your life did you choose To pursue nursing instead of other careers in the medical field and what role will Columbia play in your future plans. They also ask you to asses your skills and how this can aid in your transition into becoming a student at CUSON (this is all for your PS). In another essay, I forgot what the question was, but I remember talking about my experience volunteering at a health group and helping underserved communities. For the mde program, there is no interview. However, you have to record a video and answer a random question.

Do you think we will be able to redo the video recording if we were to by chance have technical difficulties? This is just me thinking out all possible scenarios ?

They give you a chance to practice and about 2-3 attempts from what I can remember. Also, I’m not sure if they’re gonna use the same questions for the PS. But I’m assuming it should be similar.
