MDE Columbia University 2021

Published

Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

Aside from my sneezing ; I also haven't finished all my perquisites. That email states "These fall courses will impact your application". So does that mean they are going to base our application on the amount of prerequisites completed ? Instead of giving us until January or like the Spring ?

Well after this fall semester they want you to upload your transcripts asap, and not wait basically. Have you completed majority of the science prereqs? If you did you should be fine. And if you have a science major it would help too if you haven't done at least half the science press. But they know people are still in school, so they understand.

Its the HPSP scholarship. I believe you incur a 2 year work obligation for every year of the scholarship. In my case I should note I am slated for training (the type with no communication/amenities) from February until May so I won't be able to complete this unless I get an early acceptance. Other than veteran's preference (in the same way as federal employment) in admissions HPSP is open to everybody

Thank you for letting me know! Is this for PMHNP only?

This afternoon, somebody from admissions contacted me about a few prereqs they had questions about and she told me that she forwarded my application for faculty review.

Just a few minutes ago I received this email from admissions:

Dear Hilsa,

As you progress through the application process, it is always our aim to keep you informed on your progress. Your application has passed the initial admissions review and is complete. We will now forward your application to the Faculty Admissions Committee. We will keep you updated as the process continues. If you are currently completing coursework, we will email you in the near future on how to submit these grades. If you have any questions, please let us know.  We look forward to reviewing your application and wish you good luck.

Kind Regards,

Office of Admissions

Is anybody else on the same boat? Columbia’s my dream school and I applied mostly for giggles, so I didn’t really look into prior forums on how the admission process goes and if this is just a generic email.

Some people got that email which means admissions made sure you uploaded everything. And now they’re sending it to the committee to view your entire application and make a decision. So people are getting the email one by one, its not a generic email.

I got that today too! I think they may be reviewing if your app is complete based off of when they get your app. When did you submit?

@millie2827 @hilsaevp I haven't received it yet! Trying not to panic, haha!

I submitted on 10/15, which is why I’m surprised they’re already going through my app!

I wouldn't worry. Everyone will be getting this email eventually it just means that they've checked that they have everything they need for your application to be reviewed

With regard to nursing, yes. However it is subject to change annually.

Is it frowned upon to upload more materials after the deadline onto the app? I just thought of an experience I should add to my resume, but I don't know if admissions would think anything of it. Thanks in advance!

I honestly uploaded something to my resume just yesterday and named the file as updated resume. Im not sure if they would think anything of it since we did send in the application on time with everything.
