Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

Hello all! Longtime lurker on this page... I am just so nervous about decisions and was wondering if anyone had any idea about the current age range of people in this program? I am an undergrad graduating this semester and am wondering if anyone thinks this is a huge disadvantage or anything like that. The influx of applicants this year really has me NERVOUS!

Im not sure about the current age range but I do know that it typically ranges from people in their 20's. And may have those are a bit older as well so its a mix of different people. If you get your prerequisites down by the fall you should be fine !

I feel so stressed because for the video essay I sneezed like three times in a row and that cut my time even shorter which made me forget everything I wanted to say.

Oh no..I mean we can't control our sneezes so its okay! don't stress it at all. Because the video essay won't hurt your application.

Yes and they were very strict. They said that they cannot make exceptions and to apply again next year. It's my fault though, I was not paying attention.

did something serious happen though for you to miss the deadline ? maybe admissions would understand if something serious happened

In all honesty, nothing serious happened. I was just caught up with different things and realized that it was October 16th once I saw the time was 1 a.m. I thought maybe they would leave the application opened but they did not. I am not sure if I want to wait a whole year again to apply...

Oh boy... I am not sure what to say but I feel bad you missed the deadline ? there are other schools that still have applications available like NYU ! You can apply to other schools if you haven't already.

I actually haven't applied to other schools since Columbia has such an awesome program. Honestly, I don't think I am going to apply anywhere else. I will just become a CNA.

I wouldn't give up though ? you still have chances to get into nursing school. NYU is a great school, and there's other schools in different states. I just hope this whole situation with Columbia, isn't making you feel like giving up. We are all rooting for each other !
