Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

I just saw! wow I'm way more nervous now as I didn't expect to know the results so soon! Well, sending positive thoughts everyone's way! Hopefully I'll be able to meet a lot of you in June! ?
Same! I am also nervous that its in waves---but atleast we may find out sooner. I am wondering though, the email mentioned that "fall courses will impact the application"-- does that mean those who have pending courses will only be considered/notified for admission after they have those course grades?
Hi, everyone! Hope this finds you well, and hanging in there alright amid the application nerves that I imagine all or most of us are feeling. ? When I’m feeling anxious, I keep trying to remind myself that no matter what happens, I can already feel proud of myself for just showing up and applying. Because we all know these application processes are grueling! So... good job, everybody.
I just saw the email from Columbia, too. I know there's no way to really know this, and it’s just my curiosity (and eagerness!) speaking... but I wonder if anyone has thoughts as to what the benefit/strategy may be of the school switching to publishing admissions decisions in rounds as opposed to all at once? I’m just not seeing the link between an influx of applicants and the switch to release decisions in rounds.
And do you think this basically makes it a rolling admissions process now?

well, they received 950 applications instead of 1700. But to them that's way more than usual. It may just be like that for this year though. So they want to make room for people to accept or decline the decision they make I guess to possibly make room for more acceptance instead of waitlisting people and rejecting.

I know its past the 15th but the FAFSA is due by dec 15th. And the financial aid scholarship was due oct 15th.
Just now, valeriee11 said:@abcdef Instead of the 1700? Is that the amount of applicants other programs typically receive?
Also, I'm unfamiliar with rolling admissions... Does this make it more competitive?
Sorry, to clarify, I meant that they said this year they had an influx of applications. It was 1700 open applications which were not submitted though. When I emailed them to ask about it. Apparently they have 950 applications when they typically get about 800. So to them 950 is a lot and they are deciding to send out decision letters in rounds. No one else can apply right now though, since the application is closed until next year. Basically its just giving people some time to either accept the offer or decline the offer so they can probably accept more students to fill those spots.
