Hi everyone, I still haven’t received any email from indicating that my application has been forwarded for review. Should I be worried? When I submitted my application in 10/14, everything was complete, including all 3 recommendations. I wonder if anyone else is in the same position as me.

A lot of us are in the same boat as you, so don’t worry. It's just the waiting game now unfortunately. I believe applicants are chosen randomly when reviewing, and not depending on when we submitted the app. So we just have to be patient even though im beyond anxious ?

Hi!

I also have not received any information or email regarding the forwarding of review. I don't think you have to worry much since there seems to be a handful of people who did not receive anything. With that said, I'm a bit worried... ?

You don't even know how anxious I am, haha!! Especially because I know that I royally messed up my video essay, oh man.

Hey I'm not a hundo P... this is how you reply to people, but I would double check your email in the search. I was SO nervous when I saw people posting about this email but I had received it ages ago - like right after I submitted my app. I think it is a system automated one. If you haven't received it or are still unsure, try going to your application portal. If you have all the green check marks, my understanding is you're good! If anything has a red X just contact admissions and ask for clarity. They all respond very quickly and they're very helpful/thorough.

Wishing you all luck!

Does anyone know if I can upload an updated resume to columbia even though I uploaded one already in the application? I just improved my resume

If your application hasn’t been forwarded to the faculty committee yet, then yes. Me and a few others have updated our resumes

Hey guys,

so I have a question about the MDE degree. Is it an MSN or is it it's own thing? For instance, if I wanted to attend a school for a DNP program and it required a MSN degree, would MDE work as well?

Thanks!!

The degree awarded by Columbia is an MS (Master of Science) degree. This is from their FAQs “Students are awarded a Master of Science degree after graduating from the MDE. New York State does not offer MSN degrees.” That being said the MS degree is comparable and equivalent to an MSN it’s just that NY doesn’t award them. This site here explains the types of nursing degrees well too: https://www.aacnnursing.org/Nursing-Education-Programs/Masters-Education

MDE is not the name of the degree you get but the type of program it is. Hope this helps! ❤️

Thanks so much for the clarification! I was a bit confused because I was reading a lot of conflicting info!

Anyone who applied to this program before have a similar experience? I think that my application was strong minus the timed writing essay. I blanked on what to write and ended up writing a very short essay. My video essay went much better, but now I'm really worried that the timed one will count against my app.

Hey!

I am in the same position as you! I felt that my application seemed pretty strong besides the timed essay. I definitely blanked, my essay was probably 3-4 sentences long. I've been pretty stressed about that since I've submitted the application.

Same, except also not confident about the videos. Only thing I feel good about is my essays. It especially sucks because I feel like what is being tested is the same as the Writing portion of the GRE and I got a 5.5 there ?

I still didn’t receive the official email. Was it maybe only if there was a problem with the submission?

I also have not received the email regarding my application moving onto the committee yet. I’ve been so anxious but hopefully we hear back soon!

Hey guys! Can anybody guess when you think Columbia would be sending out decisions?

I know from the timeline email they mentioned previous years is in February, this time it is rounds, and that they are not even sure about dates themselves.

Has anyone reached out to them regarding an update on this new decision process?

Could it be decisions can be sent as early as January? The anticipation is real LOL.
