  1. I'm wondering the same too! I checked the SMU website and it doesn't give any information. Schools normally give around 1-2 weeks after apps are submitted for LOR's but not sure if this is the case for SMU. Wishing everyone the best as the application deadline approaches! ☺️❤️
  2. No, otherwise this thread would have been very active with notifications. I know this because I applied last year and when we all heard back it was post after post. They haven't even released a timeline of when they are going to release decisions yet for this upcoming year. Columbia is too big of a school to pull something like this out of nowhere. Also, both MDE and MDE/DNP prior to this upcoming year has gotten notified at the same time. Again, I'm sure you didn't mean it but I hope this experience shed's some light on the process.
  3. Please do, and for future reference, don't post things like this without solid proof. As is we are all anxious to hear back any news and you throw a bomb like this without any context whatsoever was an awful nerve-wracking thing if you to do for the rest of us.
  4. I sincerely highly doubt this is the case, ask that person to provide you with a screenshot of their acceptance letter. Historically Columbia has released decisions in late January or early February and they have never erred from that, much less now that they have more applicants to review and they are working hard enough as it is to get all of our reviews done carefully and holistically. I know this from experience and knowing previous students who attended and are currently attending Columbia. For a school of their reputation, they wouldn't do this to students, a timeline would need to be released which they haven't done so yet. Perhaps the person confused the email that we received about passing their initial review as an acceptance and that's not the case. All in all, please stop providing and spreading misinformation that you yourself can't confirm. Have a good day.
  5. No, though they have been known to accept people with low GPAs they still require a minimum of a B or greater in the pre-reqs. It’s their way of knowing that despite a low GPA we can handle the courses and can succeed in the program. I had a B- in anatomy and I applied last year. I was told I needed to retake it. After outlining my plans to retake this class my application went on to the admission review.
  6. The degree awarded by Columbia is an MS (Master of Science) degree. This is from their FAQs “Students are awarded a Master of Science degree after graduating from the MDE. New York State does not offer MSN degrees.” That being said the MS degree is comparable and equivalent to an MSN it’s just that NY doesn’t award them. This site here explains the types of nursing degrees well too: https://www.aacnnursing.org/Nursing-Education-Programs/Masters-Education MDE is not the name of the degree you get but the type of program it is. Hope this helps! ❤️
  7. I would wait until at least Halloween so next week before getting more worried. They are going through a good number of applications and we gotta give them time. There seems to be no order of by when it was submitted, be it by our names, last names, ect, as they review because some who submitted by the deadline have heard back and some who did so before still haven’t. I haven’t heard anything yet either. They haven’t updated us yet. Last year they were released on January 27. This year it’s different as they are doing it in phases.
  8. Hi and welcome! ❤️ I don't have experience with that request but I can speak on the admission decision process as I applied last year. Columbia was pretty set on telling us we'd be hearing back in the first 2 weeks of February but we ended up hearing on January 29th. This may change for this year's application cycle as there seems to be an influx of more applications. As is they tend to send out decisions earlier than they say they will. When do you need the decision by? It's always best to email them, I don't think it will hurt. They are really helpful and friendly.
  9. thank you for sharing this! I'm fairly active on LinkedIn and have added them I also appreciate you sharing the research that you did into the resume of their recent graduates. It gives me some reassurance that I highlighted both those things on my resume. I hope we all get to be classmates too! ❤️
  10. I had this issue earlier today and I kept refreshing the page every half an hour or so and it eventually showed up. I also would try looking for the reminder email referencing the financial aid application they sent us. The subject of the email was "Reminder: Columbia Nursing Financial Aid Scholarship Instructions" There was a link there to the application. I'd still email them even if it's late - it will show them that you were trying and didn't just forget or didn't want to submit it and possibly (hopefully!) open up the application for you.
  11. It won't show up there as they weren't "requested" documents per see, more so additional/optional. Hope this makes sense & helps ease your worries. It will show on their end tho ?
  12. Yes on January 29th decisions were sent out. Sorry if that wasn’t clear in my post, running on so little sleep ?.
  13. Yes, once your application has passed the initial review you will get an email to notify you that your application was forwarded to the admissions committee. There’s a second email in early January for you to upload any grades for the fall semester and decisions come out late January/ early February. Last year decisions were sent out on January 29th. Checking in, keep thinking of you, we’re you able to submit your financial aid application?
  14. I couldn’t either and I submitted my application this morning. I kept refreshing the page every half hour or so. I’m able to see the application now and working on completing it as we speak.
  15. thank you! I'll keep checking on it! It's due today, right?
