MDE Columbia University 2021

Published

Hey ! I know im super early to make this thread for the MDE program at Columbia for the 2021 start year ? but I was wondering if there are any future nurses out there as eager as me to get started !!

Hey guys, I have been reading through this thread for a while and was hoping someone might be able to answer this question: People have mentioned that they know of those who have been accepted to the program with very low gpas, does that mean that Columbia is not super strict with pre-req grades? In other words, if you have below a B on the pre-reqs would you still be considered, or are you automatically disqualified?

Thanks and good luck everyone!

No it does not count for the prerequisites grades. We need a B or higher.  But for your undergraduate/graduate GPA they don’t mind low GPA since they take an holistic approach to the application.

No, though they have been known to accept people with low GPAs they still require a minimum of a B or greater in the pre-reqs. It’s their way of knowing that despite a low GPA we can handle the courses and can succeed in the program. I had a B- in anatomy and I applied last year. I was told I needed to retake it. After outlining my plans to retake this class my application went on to the admission review.

Apparently some people heard back already

Can you please clarify. Like people have gotten acceptances/rejections? Or they heard back that their apps have moved up in the review process?

How is this possible if we havent received a timeline yet of when decisions are coming out?

I am assuming you are just trying to be informative.

This whole process has been giving all of us added anxiety and it would totally not be cool if you are stirring the pot here.

Umm I really don’t think so because they haven’t even released a timeline for expected acceptances/rejections

So many people are really counting on this acceptance. For many this is the only program they are applying to. Not everyone as the luxury or the funds to move to a different state for school. I really hope you are being honest.
