McDonald"S Anyone?

Just wondering about what everybody thinks about the latest "Joe Blow" suing Mickey D's for him being fat. I am sorta of the mind set that no one taped him to the bed and stuffed Big Mac's in his mouth.

I think American's need to take some responsibility and accept that if you are fat it is either a physiological disease process or just your own doing, not Ronald McDonald's! I have little trouble finding the similarities between this and the cancer/cigarettes thing.

Just wondering what anyone else thought.

Welp this idiot needs to be stripped of his voting and driving priveleges cause anyone that stupid should NEVER vote our leaders into office, or G-D forbid, drive on our hiways. And he must be stupid, very stupid. I think anyone bringing frivolous suit like this should be similarly stripped. lots less idiots either clogging the courts with this innane silliness or less idiots at the polls and on our roads. Either way, it could be a "good thing" like our "Good friend" Martha Stewart is so fond of saying.:p

Sort of like the lady that sued because the coffee was hot!! Imagine that hot coffee!! Who would have thought?!?!?!

:chuckle :chuckle :chuckle

i was think the same thing! i think people are becoming a little too "sue crazy."

Actually, the coffee lawsuit was valid. McDonald's serves its coffee and hot chocolate at around 170 degrees, FAR too hot for consumption. The elderly woman who spilled it in her lap wound up with 3rd degree burns that required skin grafts. McDonald's had received hundreds of complaints about this problem and did nothing. It was a (no-brainer) lawsuit waiting to happen.

Unfortunately, there's no law against stupidity. I guess it goes right along with the "not my responsibility" for anything. It's always somebody elses fault for everything. Bad childhood, bad parents, alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling, shopping, obesity, etc. Let's see, I guess I could sue any potatoe chip maker, french fry maker, candy company, soda company for my obesity, my parents for the fact that I'm no t anatural blonde, and most importantly, my sons for my grey hair and saggy boobs.

First the gov't wanted everyone to quit smoking b/c they said the illness was costing too much money in health care. Alot of MCA $ could be saved if no one smoked. First we saw private lawsuits against the tobacco co's...then Uncle Sam decided it deserved the $ instead of the smokers and thier families who have died. So it sued them and got $$$$$$$$$.

Now we have healthy 2010, or something like that. And the gov't is on a kick to fight obesity. It costs alot to care for all those diabetics and heart patients. Now, here comes the private suit against McD's. Is the gov't in line next??

It's all ridiculous!

One of my (many) pet peeves are the warning stickers that manufacturers place on everything to keep from getting sued.

My Brother had a stroller that said "Do NOT fold up this stroller with baby inside! May cause harm to baby"

There are many others...maybe a new thread?

Why, just the other night, I was taken hostage by Ronald McDonald himself...he tied me up and held a gun to my head while he stuffed my face with a double quarter pounder with cheese and supersize fries.

I'm now in the McDonald's witness protection program to prevent a future attack...

you poor thing !! :chuckle :rotfl: :smokin:

I am suing Brian for extreme sleep deprivation caused by Allnurse addiction...:(

Badda-BING!! She wins the trump card. :chuckle Exactly.

Saw a cartoon on this exact case, and it said something to the effect that not only was he suing ff restaurants, now he was also suing God for not giving him enough willpower or brains.

Just goes to show you........

I think the tobacco lawsuits are crap, and about 90% of lawsuits like it are crap, including this one. This country's 'victim' mentality has gotten sooooooooooo outta hand.

Well, we've had a lot of fun with this thread and have enjoyed many clever posts. However, this whole business about individual responsibility and making poor choices can just as well be applied in our field.

The people in this country, citizens or not, seem to believe--indeed, demand and feel entitled--that they ought to be able to eat whatever they want to; exercise either very little or in dangerous ways (mountain climbing, X-sports, etc.); overindulge in alcohol, various drugs, risky sexual encounters including unplanned pregnancies; drive cars while eating, talking on cell phones, folding laundry; need I mention smoking; and OTHER PEOPLE (taxpayers, fellow insurance company premium payers, "the government") are obligated to physically/medically/emotionally take care of them and "fix" the resulting problems AND pay the medical bills.

It is lack of responsibility for themselves and their own action, this time on the "remedy" end of things, rather than on the "cause" end of things--but lack of responsibility all the same. It makes no more sense than "the coffee incident" or the fast food suit, and is much more costly to all of us.

IMHO.
