U.S.A. Michigan

Hey everyone!

Thought I would start a thread where we can keep up with all the fun new and exciting things coming our way! We'll get to meet each other in a few days (May 20th)! So, how shall we identify ourselves to one another? Hum...

Anyway, look forward to meeting you all! I'm excited about the Nursing Orientation!

It went good. It was just really basic, but you do need to know your reading. So make sure you go prepared( I only read through everything once.) Also make sure you watch the videos 2 and 9. You'll be doing those skills in class.

Do we only have to wear our scrubs to Labs and not until week 2?

I know Baker has to wear theirs to all their classes and I am getting confused. :p

TIA!

gentle tos reminder:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

You don't have to wear them till week 2

Has anyone looked in the schedule of classes and seen that under 1630 there is a note saying "each section includes an additional weely 4 hr lab to held on campus." Does anyone know if that means we will spend half of our clinical day on campus half at the hospital, or does it mean we have a whole day at the hospital and another 4 hr day on campus?

It means you are at the hospital for one day and at the school for 4 hrs a different day :wink2:.

Yeah its 4 hours on a different day and time. I had no idea this lab existed until my 1530 instructor informed me. If you go to the office they can tell you the time and day (tenative though..)

I know all you Aug. starters are so busy, thank you for your posts and sharing your questions and experiences; I'm learning alot from you all:). How is your father doing Nell? Good luck to all:)

First day went well, I thought! Excited for my lab tomorrow!

Yes, the first day wasn't bad at all. It all seems pretty do-able. We'll see when I am going crazy. I am also having my first lab tomorrow though. I haven't had that yet. The lady behind me had hers and said she liked it and the instructor was very nice.

Thanks for asking about my father but it was my brother. :wink2: I am old. ha ha But it was sweet of you to ask. Well, still have 35 more pages to read on Activity in Fundamentals. That chapter is taking me forever to get through!!

In the syllubus for 1530 for week two for the reading it says Ch45( pules oximetry p1615), does that mean that we are only suppose to read that page, or the whole chapter?

Nell,

OPs. I hope your brother is doing well. I was going to look back and check before I sent it, but whenever I check back I lose my message:) That's what I get for being lazy. :typing Sounds like you Aug. 2009 nurses are doing plenty of reading. I hope we all enjoy the journey:)
