MCC - Nursing Students Starting 2009

Published

Hey everyone!

Thought I would start a thread where we can keep up with all the fun new and exciting things coming our way! We'll get to meet each other in a few days (May 20th)! So, how shall we identify ourselves to one another? Hum...

Anyway, look forward to meeting you all! I'm excited about the Nursing Orientation!

:yeah:All I can say is that HPS is awesome!!!!!!! I can't wait to use it.

Sounds like you all had a good first week at class. Sounds like it would be terribly scary at first, but as Gemberly said... YOU CAN DO IT! So, I'm going to keep on telling myself that and get excited for October. I hope you all continue to do great!

Nell... I wish your brother and family all the best. I sincerely hope that your brother is well on his way to recovery.

If anyone wants to PM me, I can give you my email or FB name. I find it quicker to respond that way, because both those sites are easily found on my blackberry. :p

What a frustrating day for me today. I need to get over the "someone watching over me" anxiety. :)

I PM'd you Gem, so far I don't have contact info from anyone in class and I always feel like I have a question! So if anyone wants to PM me from any start date that would be cool. I need some nursing school friends. :)

That's refreshing, most of us that have had to deal with Stan feel otherwise :sofahider! Too many cooks in the kitchen and it's weird treating a dummy like a real person :coollook:! If you end up enjoying your HPS simulations the person who runs them will adore you :redpinkhe! She is great, I will say that :).

Cool! Done!

I like the HPS... I look forward to the experience... at least right now. :p

I got my nursing packet today for Oct. start:) Yeah!! Do the online learning modules and accompanying tests require a great deal of time? 2-hours a module 3, 4??? Did anyone else get thier packet?

I got my packet pbid! I am trying to get everything all in order. The Hep B shots are going to have to be done pronto. If we need them before our first clinical and the info in by Oct. 19th. This is because the 1st and 2nd need to be done. The 2nd one being one month after the first.

I am looking into getting the CPR cert done too. It says Basic Life Support Adult, but I see one for the "Professional Rescuer". I would think it would be better? I don't know.

Now, I'm working on getting everything set up as far as appointments, shots, etc.

I wonder too about the online learning modules too. I used to be the Safety and Health Coordinator at work. If you have to watch a video there are like 20-30 minutes each. Then plan on the time to take the test at the end. But, I haven't taken the learning modules we need, so I cannot say for sure.

MItchy-Mitch,

I'm excited, but nervous too. I've been waiting to get started because they said 1-month before, but I'm with you on the Hep b shots. My physical is set for the 15th; I'm heading in at 4:30 to get my first Hep B shot:) At least we have some extra time to cover some of the reading required....assuming we all start with a similar syllbus. The professional Rescuer course sounds more extensive..is it?

Wow, they must be keeping you students busy, it seems all the updates disappeared with the beginning of the semester! Just wanted to say that I'm not yet a part of the MCC nursing program, but I hope to be soon, and I've been keeping tabs on this thread so I can see what I'm in for! Looking forward to future posts. :)

They sure do.... you'll have to find a way to cope with it. My way is drinking Monster lots and lots of Monster

Hey August Starts, quick question. When did you and How did you receive notification to pick up your syllabus? I know the answer is probably starting me in my face right now but I'm unable to find it. :chuckle

I am like the boy scout motto "Be prepared" :D I just figured the notification should be coming up quick?I'm like that old commercial where you see the people waiting outside a store going "open, open, open". I can't wait to start, few more weeks!
