MCC Fall 2009 applicants, post your HESI class average.

U.S.A. Michigan

Okay it is a long time until the letters go out and we are all wondering if our HESI score was good enough. So let's be silly and play detectives and see if we can get an idea of where we stand.

For 1000 students with around 30 seats per room, there was around 34 classes.

1. Greent52389- 1/7/09, Rm 130, 81.73 average

2. Shannonmarie7- 1/7/09, Rm 115, 81.75 average

3.

4.

5.

6.

7.

8.

9.

10.

Repy with your test date, number of the room you were in, and the average score from your class and I will update this page to see what some of the overall class averages are.:smokin:

Has anyone been able to find MCC's NCLEX pass rate?? Because I have been looking for it since it was mentioned in this post, and I am obviously search impaired.

No, I haven't found it yet, though I didn't look that hard for it. I thought going to MCC's site might have info, but I couldn't find it. Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot, or I passed over it or something. Here's the link:

http://www.macomb.edu/Current+Students/Educational+Offerings/Areas+of+Study/Nursing/

I think they do not post it on the website, they tell you in orientation. The only thing I have come across on here is from 2006 where someone said that the pass rate for first try is 96%, but that is just what they said, and that does not count the people that did not make it to graduation. If there is a post there that states out of 120 students __ graduated, and the MCC's NCLEX pass rate for the entire class is__, I would love to see it.

Thanks I thought I was nuts! LOL

I looked at my transcript at MCC and my last 29 credit hours were a 4.0. So I am going to officially stop worrying about that. This includes only the classes that actually transferred to MCC. The only transferred classes I took that weren't a 4.0 are the very first 3 listed on my transcript, one isn't even from MCC and the other (A&P) is listed as one class. So they won't even come close to hitting the 3 B's I have.

I am pretty sure I am covered from every angle there. LOL I am going to *try* to sit back and wait. LOL

I think you are golden. :wink2:

lol.

Did you recieve the letter that your application is complete/incomplete? I haven't recieved anything yet, I did stop in and they said everything was in, but I would love to get a letter confirming it. I'm guessing the fact that I took the HESI at the beginning of the month might be delaying it. Not sure why I care so much since my "low" GPA is not good enough to get me in anyways.

I called the enrollment office and asked why I had not received a complete/incomplete letter yet, as I took the HESI in November and I got chewed out by a cranky woman than informed me that they have 1800 files to look through for selective admissions and they will get to mine eventually. Im not sure how much good that letter will do AFTER the application deadline.

1800? Ugh, yeah I hear ya about getting it after. :(

No student from Baker would be able to take a semester off and take easy classes. Basically you have 13 classes to complete in 3 semesters unless you want to drag out the classes longer than a year. I in fact had 15 classes because I wanted to get more experience in math and went back so I could do better on the entrance tests. The only way anyone from Baker could do that is if they have already applied to Baker once and are waiting for the next application period. Even then we have already paid for 13 classes, so who wants to add more debt taking classes like art that don't matter for anything in the big picture of the program.

Using easy classes may have worked for you, but obviously it does not work for everyone because MCC does have people that drop because that is why they have alternates. Students at MCC have plenty of time to take off a semester and do the easy class thing since you have less pre-reqs classes if you get in, and 2 of them are not even required to be done until when you are in the program. At Baker you have to complete all classes and NET before you can apply, it's not hey I will get it done later.

MCC entrance must be flawed because they are changing it to be similar to Bakers and that says something.

Are there any former Baker students on this board that went all the way through the pre-reqs and ended up in MCC? I would love to hear how the entrance process went for you.

Some how I have a feeling there are very few, because through all the posts I have read on here I have yet to see a post done by a Baker student that went all the way and ended up at MCC. Interesting.....

Hi Shannonmarie,

I am actually one of those students...I have been done with all my pre reqs at baker since 03/08...Are you asking if a baker student got into MCC nursing or if they just ended up at MCC trying to get in. I am in the latter...I am trying to get into MCC. I am taking classes at MCC. I doubt highly though that I will get in for 2009 because my gpa is considered low. a 3.82 and I only did 88% on the hesi. so I have decided to try to get into med surg or resp ther. We will see if I get accepted into one of those. I am also now going to find a job at a LTC to help pay off my loans from Baker...so I don't know if you wanted this message or not...LOL Also I did receive my letter from MCC about a week ago regarding them having everything or not. Mine said all is good...so now I wait until April to figure out where I am heading... I don't think about Baker anymore, I know that I am not in their program..LOL I only think about Baker when making payments on the LARGE loan...

i received a reply regarding the 18 ch thing at mcc.

i hope i can clear up any confusion you may have about mcc's selective admissions process. because baker college is on quarters and macomb college is on semesters, the credit hours need to be converted when transferred from baker into macomb. a 4 credit hour class at baker is equal to 2.68 credits at macomb. therefore, if your last semesters were at baker college and those are used for the selective admissions process, a minimum of 18 credits at baker college will be needed. 18 credits at baker college will equate to 12 credits at macomb college. the classes will need to be 1,000 or higher level and will need to be equated to mcc classes for ranking. here is some information taken directly from the nursing fall 2009 selective admissions application:

keep in mind its the level 1000 classes that will count. that equates to baker's 100 or higher classes. (mcc used to do that, too, way back when, but they changed them to thousands sometime in the last 20 years! lol i have mcc classes on my transcript that show them at a 100 level and it shows they equate to a 1000 level.) so this would be most of our classes. not the remedial math or english or reading classes though. 099a or whatever some of them are.

Did you reapply for Baker for start date this spring? I have yet to hear of a Baker student that finished all their pre-reqs at baker crossing over to MCC. I will cross my fingers for you for MCC.:D My GPA is to low also because I had a 3.9 with the last 12 credits but a lot lower with 18. I am still hopeful to get into Baker by Spring 2010, but I have 3 classes to finish so we will see.

Looks like the 4 I thought were going to be used are okay, they are all 100 level and above.

Yes I did apply again to Baker for this spring. But I am not counting on getting in. I only had a 76% on the NET and with a 3.8 that is not good enough. When I received the first "rejection" letter last time, I was very upset. This time I am expecting it, so no surprises here. I laid it all at the foot of the cross, and am giving it to God. I know I will become an RN, it is just the when... Thanks for your well wishes for MCC. I am hoping also, but we will see. I wish you the best at Baker...

Don't worry there will be a spot for you at the school you are meant to go to!! You will have the extra point up on the new people applying and that will help you a lot. Have you taken the NET once or twice? If only once I would take it again for Fall 09 entrance, if you get over the 80 you should be in.
