I am just astounded by how many people there are that seem to have a firm and unshakable belief that the entire COVID pandemic is a fraud, that the presidential election was fake and that this was all invented to somehow gain control of "the people". Don't even get me started on the bizarrely huge number who seem to believe the US government is controlled by a pedophile ring that started in a pizza parlor. There are so many different conspiracy theories on how COVID started, why it was started, what the ultimate goal of the great COVID conspiracy is and how that goal will be achieved. Used to be these were just fringe extremist groups that lived in their own little corner of the internet but it's become so normalized it's almost mainstream.
Not to mix politics with public health but honestly it's impossible not to since they really seem to go hand in hand. Those that believe the entire COVID pandemic is fake or at least that the risk is extremely exaggerated are almost invariably the same one's who believe the entire election was a fraud and the presidency was "stolen." What really truly scares me is how many of these people are elected officials with broad support bases.

Heck there's a not so small number of people that believe the virus is real, it was developed in a lab and that it was released upon the unsuspecting populace to somehow gain world domination! Trump only did what ANY commander of chief would do when commencing a war against a pandemic. He was just doing his appointed job to keep the wheels turning. I'm not going to worship somebody just because they did what we pay them to do. Glad and grateful it got done but Biden would have done the same thing without sowing distrust of medical science and supporting the anti-vax movement ideologues. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a president who has inflicted more harm on his citizens.
