Looking to see if there are any other Maricopa Comm College CEP applicants out there yet for Fall 2017 start (summer 2017 at the university). I put in my application Nov 7th & was told it would be a "couple" weeks until I was notified by email if & what schools I get accepted to. Anyone else out there...yet?
just letting you know, cgcc sent out placement notices on about Mar. 14, & are due by 4/07 by 1700. I received mine, but also they may open more slots pending students declining or deferring, and background checks. I am a Dignity employee, so I got mine very early. So maybe thats why I got it ? I was waiting & browsing on here to see if any others received their placement, and I haven't really seen anyone talk about getting placed at cgcc. Only other people I know are a few other of my ER buddies at CHL. So maybe that was an early round? Good luck to you & hopefully you get placed, never know we could be in the same class :)
I asked this question on a different thread, but I figured since a lot of you guys have already gone through the process, you may know the answer....
How does Maricopa calculate the chemistry grade? I ask because on the application form, there's only space for one grade next to CHM130, and yet it does say "CHM130+CHM130LL" and also states that it is a 4 credit class. With the Maricopa colleges (I think they're all identical), the CHM130 class is 3 credits, and the CHM130LL lab is 1 credit. Hence, they are separate classes, and graded as such...meaning I ended up with 2 different grades and 2 different % results. They are reported as two separate classes on the transcript also.
So, my question is - do I have to calculate the final grade myself? That's not an issue, by the way, I just wanted to know if that's what I should do.
To explain further...for lecture, I got a B, for lab I got an A. If I take lab as 25% of the grade (1 credit of the 4 total credits)) and lecture as 75% (3 of the 4 credits) then add them together, my overall grade is an A (just pipped in at 90%)....do I report that as an A on the application?
Thanks!
You would do: B/A indicating both scores.
This is correct for anyone else wondering the same thing! You notate both and they include both in the final GPA, weighted per the credit hours.
And on that happy note - I submitted my application today! I'll be playing the waiting game now until mid July for a Spring start (although University classes will start in the fall), if I get placed. What a relief to finally have everything done and in!!!
Totally off-topic......my emojis have disappeared from my comment box? Anyone know why???
If You submit your Maricopa Nursing application and CEP application at the same time, when would you roughly hear an answer?
I read plenty of other forum topics and they mentioned waiting 2 years (some even 5 semesters, and still waiting!) to get into the nursing department.
But they aren't CEP enrolled.
Does it make such a big difference in waiting time if you're enrolled in CEP or not?
For everyone here who does CEP, what has your waiting times been before you get a response?
I have a previous bachelors degree, but recently realized that I want to do health care after all.
About to start my first semester soon. But already planning ahead :)

Hi there -
If you enroll in the CEP, there is no wait list - it is competition based. Hence, your GPA, previous degree, and HESI scores are all really important in getting a place.
If you enroll in the ADN, there is a wait list that can be about 2 years long.
Yes, you can submit your application for both on the same day. You will be registered into the nursing pool (along with all applicants, ADN and CEP students). You HAVE to register in the "nursing pool" in order to apply for the CEP; you can apply to the ADN first, or you can apply for the ADN and CEP together, but you can't apply for the CEP without having first applied to the ADN.
Once your application goes in for the CEP, your wait will depend on when you submit. For example, the next deadline is May 31st. Applicants will have been submitting anytime between the close of the last deadline and up to May 31st. After that closes, it will take about 4-8 weeks to hear whether you got into the program. I would estimate late June to mid July for most students.
There may be a difference between wait times for hearing back depending on whether you apply to start at the community college in the Fall or the Spring, I don't know. To give you an idea, for those who are applying to start at the community college in the Spring semester (January 2018), for many of them their University online classes will begin in the Fall this year. Hence, they will be told if they are accepted onto the program sometime during June or July to allow them time to get ready for the online classes.
HTH!

Hi Melanie, I submitted my Maricopa application 9/2016 & my CEP application right when the CEP application process opened in 11/2016, I had to wait until the CEP application process closed at the end of January before I was told they would start looking at applicants. I was accepted at a Maricopa school nursing program February 20th. So after the application process closed, I heard back 20 days later that I was accepted.
I also had a previous Bachelors, my GPA & HESI score were decent, not spectacular but decent. I applied to CEP almost as soon as the application processe opened in October, don't know if that "helped" getting my application in early, but probably didn't hurt either.
I think it is also dependent on your situation. If you don't do CEP chances are good you'll be waiting at least a couple of semesters for acceptance. While there is no wait list for CEP, it has become very popular & probably a little competitive since they now have less seats compared to the number of applications they receive.
I got accepted right away, but know other students with nearly the same credentials who didn't get in this semester but are still on the Maricopa wait list & will have to reapply for CEP. I can't say why for sure, but can speculate that CEP has gotten popular enough that it's become competitive.

Yeah I understand same here, I would think we should have heard at least something. Sometimes I wonder if my application went through since I never received a email with a time stamp after I applied
