what are usual shifts like? how many hours/week?
Thanks!
Sarah
Brand new job: 3 12.5 hour shifts (12P-1230A) per week with a 1 1/2 hour break, get paid for 37.5 hours per week. The catch is that I have to do an extra shift once a month (do 4 shifts that week) without OT. Kinda like the idea of a consistent paycheck and the long breaks; but, don't know if I like the idea of working OT without the extra pay, yet. I know that once I accrue PTO in 6 months, I can use it for that 4th day. I have just started and will have to find out if it works for me.
Previous job: 3 12.5 hour shifts (7P-730A) per week with a 1 hour break, paid 34.5 hours for the week. Was supposed to get an extra OT day per month to make up for the p/t paid hours for full time work, but that never happened (was given a PTO day for the 4th day at straight time with no differentials included). Also, never got out till at least 8AM because day replacements came in when they felt like it-of course, never got paid for the extra time.
Scheduled for two 12's a week. Usually work 3-4 12's a week. Any "extra (above my two scheduled) are time and a half plus ten plus I go into overtime ont he fourth day. Some weeks I can be bought some weeks not.
I'm jealous! Very very jealous!!! I want to go down to two 12's a week with the option of working the occasional 3... but you get overtime for it... you lucky devil!!!
Like many here, I work three 12-hour shifts (7PM to 7AM) per week. However, night-shift workers receive special pay of 40-hours for 36 hours worked. This is a NICE benefit!! Basically, I get paid 4 hours per week of non-work.
And we STILL can't hire the staff!! We STILL have several full-time night positions to fill throughout our small hospital!!!
:selfbonk:
Sigh. . .
