Anyone from a state with mandated HPV vaccinations? How is the compliance and if you could give me a snapshot on a pushback scenarios? How is administration handling those not in compliance? TIA
I live in Texas, where then Gov. Rick Perry mandated that every junior high girl receive the HPV vaccine. Yes, it turns out he was in with the Pharm. Co. I did get the vaccine for my daughter, not because he mandated it, but because I wanted to do everything possible to keep my daughter from suffering from a type of cancer I could have prevented.

As an RN who used to work in OBGYN, I don't see why you wouldn't get the shot.
My boys have both had the series.

more regulation to only women?!?!?!?!
Okay. And if prophylactic penicillin (or fill in the blank medication) was proven to prevent gonorrhea, should it be mandated?I'm not against vaccinations, and would recommend getting the HPV one. I just think there are degrees of necessity that affect whether or not something should bemandated against a person's wishes.
Prophylactic erythromycin is administered to all babies after birth to prevent blindness due to gonorrhea or chlamydia. It's already mandatory. I'm not sure about the whole country, but in NY doctors can get in trouble if they don't administer them after birth. They don't even need to get informed consent.
In DC HPV is mandatory for all students over the age of 11. Parents are allowed to opt out. Last year DC decided to require that the opt out forms be sent in every year. I work in a special needs school where most parent choose to opt out. Our students can stay to age 22. So parents now have to resign the same form every year for 11 years. DC will not allow permanent exemptions for special needs students. Trying to get all those forms has proven to be challenging.

Yeah, not a perfect analogy, but having government control over your body should be taken very seriously. Obesity causes, or at least contributes to a host of diseases- what if we mandated surgery for that? (Obviously out of the question, but it illustrates the point.)
