Los Angeles County College of Nursing - Spring 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the Spring 2020 Basic (Generic) program. The school website posted dates for an information session for prospective students. I'll be attending May 31, 2019, and wanted to see if anyone else is going to the same day or any of the other ones?

Application window opens June 15th for Spring 2020. I hope this thread will help answer admission/application questions and get connected with other applicants or those who are currently in the program.

Does anyone here know what the interview will consist of? How are you guys preparing for the interview? I am so nervous.. I need those last 5 points to secure a spot.. Any tips???

I'm so nervous because I'm not sure what to expect, good luck to everyone tomorrow! ?

Hey guys!

I’m a current 1st semester student. I’m sure you guys went through the interview already. Just wanted to say good luck to everyone. They usually take 50 students per cohort, no alternates, but they do take into consideration any students that are remediating or took a leave for the semester.

My advice: save money, be in a good mental state, have a strong support system. (They stress this a lot because it can get intense). Get rid of any bad habits, if you’re a person who’s late to places, work on that. Get your family & significant others on board....there will be days when you won’t see your family/bf’s/gf’s. Keep in mind that the process doesn’t stop just when you get accepted. You’re going to have to put in a lot of work. You will cry, you will lose sleep, lol & it’s ok. Shake it off & get back to it. Eat healthy!!!! Exercise. If you don’t have something you do to de stress, find something.

Everyone at school wants you to succeed. The instructors & students on campus are supportive. Everyone is willing to help, just ask for help. Good luck guys!

@a_ar Hey thanks for the insightful tips! I got that vibe during the interview about everyone wanting there students to succeed and are supportive. I actually love how rigorous the program can be. I truly believe they're looking out for the students best interest of becoming a competent nurse. I hope all of us on here who interviewed will get accepted come next week!

Today is the day for acceptance notifications! Please let us know if any of you guys got an email from the school!

Sooo nervous.. I hope they send it out today because it looks like in the past.. the acceptance letters were delayed a month or so.. good luck to everyone!!!

I hope not. I want to know it so I can plan accordingly. Why would they say that they send out notifications on October first and then not follow through? I mean, most colleges don’t give an exact date. If you give adapted it would be appropriate to stick to it.

Last cohort (Fall 2019) got their notifications exactly on the date the school said they would send them. They sent our interview invites exactly on the date they said they would. I am sure they will notify those who are accepted today.

oh really! i guess it was 2019 spring cohort that didnt get their acceptance letters until nov 1. but yess if they do send it out today that would seriously help me get rid of this anxiety!! i am so nervous/anxious/excited.. lol hope we all get in!!!

I just got an acceptance letter!!!!!! hallelujah!!!!
