Los Angeles County College of Nursing - Spring 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the Spring 2020 Basic (Generic) program. The school website posted dates for an information session for prospective students. I'll be attending May 31, 2019, and wanted to see if anyone else is going to the same day or any of the other ones?

Application window opens June 15th for Spring 2020. I hope this thread will help answer admission/application questions and get connected with other applicants or those who are currently in the program.

Greetings,

Have any of you guys purchased the main textbooks? Since most of them are etextbooks, what are you guys planning to use to pull up the books? Laptop or tablet?

I bought the textbooks but I did the print on demand option because I don’t like electronic books, it’s a printed copy unbounded. I had to buy binders (3)4 inch and (1) 2 inch. It was 50 dollars extra for each book.

Has anyone else ordered a stethoscope from the fundraiser? If so, have you heard anything about it? I'm hoping they have it available to pick up during orientation. ?

Also, for the "recommended" books, did you buy them as an e-resource or physical copy? I'm going to get the drug handbook in the physical copy, but unsure about the rest!

I ordered my stethoscope from the fundraiser. I received an email from the company today saying my order was shipped and will be delivered on 1/14/2020 to the school. So hopefully it will be there next Tuesday or Wednesday during our orientation.

Is any one else going to Ranchos Los Amigos for their first clinical rotation? My information sheet just got cleared, and now I have to go through another live scan clearance for that hospital. County has the most tasking on boarding process!

Just got off the phone with HR and they're saying I don't have to come back in for a live scan (since I've been cleared prior during enrollment). I just have to wait for them to notify me to pick up my ID badge for RLA hospital before Feb 11. Which will be the first day of clinicals!!

Hello, I know this is an old forum. But I was wondering if anybody can just state whether this school is great? Or if theres any issues? etc... I just got accepted into the Spring 2022 program and im nervous about whats to come. Was wondering how yall are doing so far? and if the program is tough? Also if there is any advice to give, id surely take it. THANK YOU and I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving week.
