Los Angeles County College of Nursing - Spring 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I wanted to start a thread for those applying to the Spring 2020 Basic (Generic) program. The school website posted dates for an information session for prospective students. I'll be attending May 31, 2019, and wanted to see if anyone else is going to the same day or any of the other ones?

Application window opens June 15th for Spring 2020. I hope this thread will help answer admission/application questions and get connected with other applicants or those who are currently in the program.

@hopefulfutureRN07 I assumed everyone got the email from the same person. Mybad! I agree, I don't think it matters who emailed you the invite. From what I remember hearing at the information session, they accept approximately 50 students per cohort, nothing was mentioned about alternates. It all depends on how many nursing instructors are available and if there are any students that are re-mediating from previous cohorts. Then they will see how many student they can accept for Spring 2020.

I believe there will be around 60-80 students for the interviews. Did everyone get the same interview date, September 20th? Or were there other dates to interview?

Thank you! So that means there’s still 30 more people on the line apart from the 50 if they considered 60-80 students for the interview ?

I did get mine on the 20th! I hope we can all make it!

@hopefulfutureRN07 Yeah exactly. It's interesting that LAC+CONAH is one of the only schools in LA that go through a interview process for the program.

So, Im assuming if you didnt get a invite today, you were not able to meet required points of interview

Sorry to hear you didn't get in invite to interview. Do you mind sharing your stats/points? Maybe we can determine what the school looks for to get in an interview.

Hi everyone! I also applied LA county.

I got 13:30 for my interview.. is anyone having the same time?

I applied with 89 points, but my weak point is I don't have health care work experience..

I am very nervous about this group interview, since I don't know what to expect.. (I believe that they will check how to work in the group, but I am not sure if I can express well in the situation..)

Good luck to everyone ?

Without the healthcare experience, it looks like you’re still in pretty good shape! 89 prior to the interview points is high.

I have mine at 1230! Me either, I feel nervous but hope all goes well for all of us ?

@Hiro at 89 points you are almost guaranteed a spot even without the 5 bonus points.

It looks like they will be doing interviews all day according to everyone's time slots. I will be at the 14:30 session, but was offered either 10:00 or 14:30.

I'm more worried about the timed written portion of the interview. Anyone have any helpful advice for preparing for this?

Yeah I think they're having sessions all day, my invite was either 9AM or 1:30PM.

@mchlstvn are you applying to National University? They also have an interview process before getting admitted. A lot of schools might start picking up this portion of the application process.

@jayseeoh No, LAC+CON was the first and so far the only school I have applied to. I haven't looked at National University, is it a BSN program? I know it's common for BSN programs to implement interviews. If I don't get in this cycle I will most likely apply again.

Does anyone know if there's a way we can email the school, specifically the Office of Educational Services?
