Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.
I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?
About me I am married SAHM with 3 girls 17, 9, and 5 and one boy 10. I am 40 yikes! It still doesn't seem real when I say that. I need to have morning classes because I live far from the school and would not be able to pick up my kids with afternoon classes. I would like to work in the NICU or in Peds. I don't want to work in L&D or geriatrics.
Thanks bugalove! That would be great! My house looks like a day care too most of the time! Toys everywhere! Good luck moving... I know moving is usually no fun!
I would prefer morning classes so that I can get my oldest off the bus when she gets out of school... she's only in Pre K so she goes half days in the morning too. But on the other hand as long as I get in I will take whatever is available!
I'm 33 years old and have been married to my wonderful husband for almost 16 years. I have a 14 year old and an 11 year old. I chose to be a stay at home mom while my children were small. I worked as a Realtor for 2 years, but we all know how the market is, so I decided to go back to school to become a nurse. I've worked hard to get where I am and just pray that I get an acceptance letter. But if not this time around, I will be applying for the Fall Semester probably with Montgomery being my first choice as it is closer to me.
I wish everyone luck, and hope we all get to meet.
great idea kolbee, i think the support we give each other will make a huge difference in our nursing school experience. it's nice being able to share the ---waiting for the letters--- with others right now.i feel your pain fabjulev, my oldest (a boy) is also 13. lots of changes this year with the teenage stuff and hopefully starting nursing school :) exciting though.
count me in on any plans of meeting each other before school starts! this website is fascinating, i love all the supportive discussions.
amyluu, it's definitely exciting to witness all of the different levels of change that our youngsters are experiencing. i am so anxious to get this ball rolling!!!
Count me in for Coaches as well!! That sounds like a great idea!
That is really neat that there are two of you Husband/Wife teams. Good news for your husband bugalove. Have you guys found a house yet? When will you be moving down here?
I am so excited at how supportive everyone seems on here. I really hope I get in so I can go through this with all of you. :)
tmrine - Nice to finally see you on here
AFM - I am keeping myself busy hoping to rush through this month. My oldest daughter (almost 7) just started softball and my husband is coaching so between that, school, my youngest little monkey (she just turned 2), and work, things are definitely busy. I hope to get the morning block for the same reasons as tmrine. So I can be there to get my daughter on and off the bus. It's good that there are so many of us with kiddos. Hopefully we can form a study group somewhere while the kids entertain each other. My house is pretty much like yours bugalove, the entire upstairs is nothing but toys!
Well, only a few more weeks to go!! (3? Maybe 4? Hopefully?)
Hi everyone. I will be applying in January for North Harris and Montgomery. I haven't gotten my score yet. Still studying for the HESI test. Real nervous, but y'all have given me excellent study tips. Thanks a bunch. Hopefully I will see some of you guys at North Harris! By the way... I don't have any kids. I couldn't imagine doing all this and having children so I wanted to tell everyone with children...y'all are doing awesome jobs!

i'm sure you will get in to your school of choice, you are preparing well in advance for the hesi. just a reminder, start with the reading portion first then take the math. thanks for the compliment to all of us with kidos. i must say that trying to do well in school with kids can be at times extemelly difficult, crazy, fun, frustrating and exausting to say the least; but once you have kids you can't see yourself without them. they are my daily motivation!!!:lol2:
honestly reading all this can really depress a girl I should've thought of retaking my English! I got a B on it (dual credit in highschool). Got a 91 or 92 on Reading on the HESI a grand total of about 11.37XX. I was really praying and hoping but reading this stuff brings me down so bad haha...I guess I'm gonna take English (second start) to try and get an A to enter in January at North Harris!! I'll be ready then!!

Well, cheer up, I heard last application cut off was around 11.3 so you could still be chosen!
Hey Kyla.Ann, I completely agree with you. I am taking pharmacology at north harris. You are right, it is pretty intense but everything is going into short term.. I am planning to take it again at Cyfair if I get accepted.
Kyla, do have any idea when Cyfair usually notify about the acceptance for spring 2011 ? I have applied there too. My grand total is about 11.43. Don't know if I should be even expecting anything. Also, trying to raise my points for North Harris by fall 2011 just incase.. you know what I mean.

For the people going to the CyFair nursing program, which classes are you shooting for, morning or afternoon? I was going to choose afternoon classes. That would leave extra time in the morning for studying on the days we had tests. They tell people to get to the orientation really early if you want the morning classes.
