hi everyone! i'm holli. i took boards on june 13th and passed with 75 questions. i am starting work on july 18th at the only hospital i ever wanted to work for. it is a great pediatric facility! i will be on the (post-op) surgical floor, and we also have all of the endocrine kids. also, they just added an epilepsy monitoring unit, for overnight monitoring and for the brain mapping they are doing. i expressed an interest in that, so they will cross-train me in that unit as well. i can't wait to get started!

so, tell me about you...

Hi all :) I'm Michelle. I took my boards in January and I'm two weeks into my first job on a med-surg floor at a small community hospital.

It's a little scary :uhoh3: I'm just soaking up everything I can and trying to get some kind of organization to my day at this point. I know it will be weeks and weeks before I get my own assignment but it still scares the heck out of me to even think about it.

Hi everyone!!!I am Ruby from Australia. I am currently in the last year of my undergraduate degree...hopefully i pass all the units:D

Hi everyone, I'm Anna. I just finished an Accelerated BSN program in Feb. I start work in the NICU on March 13th. I am taking my boards in early April and right now I am just studying my butt off. I am really excited to start work, but I am a bit scared too. It is an internship, so that makes me feel a bit better cause I won't be thrown in too fast.

Hi, I'm Mike and I took my boards in the beginning of feb. I'm working as a nurse in a busy ER. We service an inner-city population and we are a trauma center so it's very busy and hectic sometimes. I'm still on orientation and I will be until the end of May. I like it a lot so far, but I've made my share of stupid mistakes...

Hello! I've been coming to allnurses for quite some time now, but finally I am introducing myself. I just had the type of day that makes me feel like I finally belong in the "first year of nursing" crowd. I began about a month ago on a tele floor, but I have only had 7 days on the floor, because I have also been taking new grad classes at the hospital. I'm looking forward to learning about others' trials and tribulations during their first year of nursing!

Hey everyone, new grad here!

Silly me, jumped right into the Med Surg ICU!! While I love it, it is kicking my new grad butt!

Ive never felt so undertrained in my life! The residency program I am in helps, but what do you do for the poor bruised, beat up, okay totally shredded self-confidence at the end of another 12 hour shift! :banghead:

Congratulations! :balloons:

Hi. My name is Susan and I've been a nurse since July 2005. As you know, I'm still learning. I work in Los Angeles on a Telemetry floor. I love being a nurse but hate my place of work. I will gather some more experience and will move on. I am currently just working 3 days per week. I plan to start school this fall so that I can be eligible for the bsn program at my hospital. I hope everybody else is having a better time dealing with coworkers and politics at their place of work.

hey guys!! i passed boards on march 8 and get out of orientation on may 20. i work in the emergency room and i am so nervous!!! i mean all through orientation you have your preceptor there if you need help but i will soon be all on my own. i can't wait!!!!

Remember, you can find out the results of the NCLEX by going to the State board of Nursing website and check licensure verification. It is free this way and usually posted within 1-2 days.

Good luck

Hi guys, I found out that I passed the boards on Feb. 16 (I took them on Feb 14). The test didnt even last an hour and I had the minimum number of questions. I have been working on a telemetry floor since Mid. February. I have been on my own for two weeks now. It is hard, but the staff are willing to help me :) It's great. My director says that it will take 6 months to a year before I feel totally comfortable...
