Hi Everyone:

We have been all complaining about the hospitals we work, particularly me....lol, So I thought lets have some fun with bragging about our hospitals:D It will not only give us a chance to find out how sophisticated our hospitals are but also how antiquated they are!!

Please accept my appology if its a reapeat thread.

I was told yesterday that we will be getting a Pyxis in Feb and the patients room will also have a brand new computer so that we can access our charts right in the room!! We will also be going live next year meaning we will be doing our charting in a pc.....we were soooo happy (:uhoh3:) I thought I share with my fellow nurses at allnurses.com!!!

How about you?? Are you getting anything NEW??;)

Love to hear from you!!

Thanks

Where I work, not only do we have dedicated terminals at the nurse's station, we have battery powered terminals on carts - and wifi throughout. You can chart, do your CEU's, even surf a little (if it's quiet) wherever, whenever. Very handy.

Much bigger of a deal is that our snack shop just switched to Campbell's from some off-brand of soup, and we NEVER run out of hot sauce. See, you gotta know what's important :lol_hitti

Man I am envious of you.....we are not allowed to go online at all (no internet access....only the corporate website)....and we get soup cooked by a "chef":D

Not much great to say about my Hospital.

We have now started to have Peanut butter for the staff( eerrrr I mean Patients) in the last 6 mos. But that is about it. PB& Graham crackers, now that is a treat!

Dietary: They change menu daily x 31 days but ALWAYS have banana pudding on Thursday. It's a Southern thing.

We are a nurse-friendly hospital, as designated by Texas Nurses Asso after survey of various things, including participation of nursing leadership group.

I work with a lot of smart and kind people. Some are greater challenges than others. But I believe I am a better person for being here.

I work at a magnet facility (like that means squat to most people). We have the work stations on the cart, and they have scanners so that we scan meds to make sure that med errors are reduced, have a 3rd shift cook who will give us just about anything whether it's on the menu or not. Our pt ratio is 5-8 pts per team of 1 RN & 1 LPN or 2 RNs. This is very good. Many complain about it, but when interviewing at other places, they find out it is excellent. We are a small community hospital, so not many major care cases either, they ship out to Indy or Louisville. The worst we usually see are the stage III and stage IV decubs which to me is very sad as they all usually come from LTC, and this shouldn't even be an issue....that's really for another post, sorry. And no, I'm not knocking LTC, I have the ultimate respect for anyone in that area--I love the old folks and know that work is hard!!

my hospital, besides being 15 minutes walk to one of the best Beaches in sydney, is really old. but the staff are mostly friendsly!!!! and there is great support for students and new staff ( well most of the time)

My hospital has the greatest group of Physicians that actually talk to you like your equal and are actually interested in our personal lives. They are so nice and fun to work with!

The hospital system I work for is such a desirable place to work that there are literally no openings right now....I'm serious! It is a magnet facility in a really nice town. People really do want to live/work here....ft collins colorado. When jobs do come open, especially on the med/surg floors, there are about 30 applicants for each position (or so I've heard). I was lucky to get a part time job on the psych unit.

I really want/need to work acute care and am thinking of relocating to do so. If anyone in CO or surrounding states knows of hospitals that are hiring right now let me know....thanks.

Where do you work? I think I'd forget law school and become a nurse if I could work in those conditions!

My boss' boss is nice. Really a sweet woman. Too bad she's in upper management. I get a yearly .10 raise.

I've racked my brain and a nice boss and a measly raise is as good as it gets.
