Lehman College 2018 Fall Generic BSN/ABSN applicants!

Published

Hello, everyone applying to Lehman's BSN/ABSN programs for Fall 2018!

I am currently working on my application and will very soon take HESI. I know application period does not start until January 1, but I thought I would create a thread so we could get in touch and support each other on the way to (keeping fingers crossed!) being accepted!

Jmaghs:

If you are taking your last course(s) at Lehman, you do not need to send any transcripts. They will access your grades through their system. Once you are accepted, you will receive a packet with the info on dates to attend and a bunch of forms to fill out.

It is my understanding that by end of June they will have made the acceptance decision. There will be an orientation and exams either in July or August and class starts the last week of August. I will suggest to do your traveling in June just to be safe.

I wish there was a way for us to obtain specific information regarding the acceptance process. A classmate told me that they look at your GPA and CT score. And I recall during my transfer orientation the advisor said GPA must be 3.5 and above for generic and 3.7 and above for ABSN that is key. Then she proceeded to say Hesi passing is 75 and CT must be 850 and above. I guess we just have to wait and see but I am praying they do focused on CT and GPA, my overall HESI score is low :(

Hi CN101! Thanks for your reply. I am taking the last one, hopefully done by the end of the month.

Yes, I wish they provided more information as well. I am still confused how they may narrow down potential applicants. When I went into the nursing department last month I saw what looked like hundreds of applications in the office for this cycle. If they have hundreds of qualified candidates how do they end up giving out acceptances? Unless most of the applicants do not have high enough HESI or GPA I guess??

Has anyone's prerequisites transferred in as a higher level course? My chems transferred in as higher level courses and I am hoping they are accepting this but I am not sure..

From other posters that I have followed I heard that decisions are not black and white, so to speak. For example, they may admit an applicant with 3.6 GPA and 970 CT, while another applicant admitted with 4.0 GPA and 850 CT. No way to tell.

When was the critical thinking score raised from 800 to 850? Some of my friends spoke to nursing advisors back in March and the advisors said their CT scores were okay (a few had over 800 but under 850 as their CT score).

As for narrowing down applicants, I'm pretty sure a lot of people who applied do not make the cut. Some might've dropped a course and will have to re-apply next year, some didn't take HIN, some didn't pass the hesi, etc. So I'm sure those people are placed into a separate pile and then they'll start narrowing down from there. I mentioned before that it is by hesi score and gpa. Others say it's by CT score and gpa. One thing we both know for sure it is by gpa. If you have a high gpa, you shouldn't worry too much. I do agree that it is annoying that they are so vague with their answers.

Well, I think it hasn't changed. I'm pretty sure it is still 800.

So I am sick like a dog trying to study for my micro final tomorrow...It is not fun at all :scrying:

omg so am I, Walcott is the bane of my existence

I am actually sick lol, like I have body aches, low grade fever and such. But yeah, this one, at least for me, is the hardest yet.

I don't think it is the material as much as it is the instructor. I wrote in my evaluation that the class would work better with probably. 1- A different instructor, 2- as a clicker class ( to reinforce information on the spot) or divided into two semesters
