  1. Hey guys I'm creating this for all of us May grdauates to keep each other up to date with when people are getting their ATTs in New York State and when they are scheduling.Becuase my school is saying possibly September and I refuse to believe them. I applied for licensure on April 10th, my graduation date is May 28 and thus my transcripts will be set to BON after. Will update when I receive my ATT Anyone else ?
  2. HSS stands for hospital for special surgery. I see your an RN they don't hire people part time only full time and per diem. Its a super low stress per diem especially in the same day surgery center so I suggest you look into it
  3. Hey guys, wondering if we can create a thread with start salaries for new grads at nyc salaries. I hear Sloan Kettering and HSS have highest paying salaries but I never got a number.or af least a good estimate like if it’s above or below 95k. the only information I currently have to contribute is that HSS per diem rate is $60 an hour.
  4. Yes, It is hard you cannot do it on your own without support from your classmates. If people feel they cannot trust you or the way you talk to people is *** word gets around. We are a cohort, we talk all classes together its not like pre-reqs where its different peole in each class. This is nothing like pre-reqs you need to learn how to answer nursig style questions that require you to critically think. Alot of it is time managment. Learning how you study and setting around blocks of time for work, study and self care. You can do it just takes sacrafice and persistance and lets be honest if your not working at least having a good credit limit and potentionlal for work like babysitting
  5. You know you could have taken it twice right? once through lehman college and once through the Texas A&M acess code. I took it once through lehman I got 790 and i submitted an then re took it with texas and got 890 and submitted that too
  6. No you have classes 2-3 times a week ( counting a skills lab) and clinical once a week first semster then twice a week second sesmter. If you work make sure you have a super flexible job like per diem or working in afterschool programs. You probabaly wont get your scedule until july or august.
  7. first semester you only have clinicals once a week, second semster its twice a week but you may be asked to wear business casual for Psych clinical instead of unifrm (start building a business casual cloest). what you neeed multiples of is white scrub pants mine are from wearfigs.com and Jannu. White its also the color of most RN unfiforms and summer externships so it will be in your intrest to invest in quality white scrubs instead of cheap ones. I highy recomend WEARfigs.com and Jannu
  8. I have PDFs in a private message I will send you my email and you can ask me questions.
  9. A must have for clinicals is a notebook, or the folding nursing board from amazon. A pen (lots of pensssssss) and make sure you wipe down your pens before you get home or wipe them down and leave them in your clinical bag. TX compression socks -amazon part of nursing uniform is all white leather shoes, lots of my classmates bought those ugly nurse mates shoes. I bought all white leather VANS from the VANS website and they are great. Pluse they are the same price as the nurse mates shoes and you can wear them outside of clinical. It’s a win win. Bring lunch and a snack or have enough money in your bank account to spend easily 15 dollars that day. Always have your hospital ID, Lehman ID and Nursing name pin. Clinical Companion for Medical-Surgical Nursing Concepts For Interprofessional Collaborative Care 9th edition by Ignatavicus. -life saver for when you get asked what’s the patients condition and what should you do. Will also help you with care plans, patho and med surg. Davis drug guide app-books are updated every year with new drugs and discontinued drugs the app is the same price as the book and and it is easier to look up a drug while your on the floor. Your not going to be looking through a huge book on the floor.
  10. Hospitals are a dirty place. You don’t want what you carry in the hospital into your home. With that being said most female students use two bags. I personally use two bags becuase then I wil never forget stuff. Everything I need for clinicals will always be in one bag. And I leave it near my door and wipe it dow when I get home. Some people use the same bag but honestly then you have to take stuff out and put stuff in and you may forget something. Also so be mindful that there are no lockers at clinical you may not have an area to put your stuff. So only bring what’s essential. The folding nursing clipboard on amazon is great to bring with you becuase you can hold a patiebts chart, paparr and an assignment due. Also don’t forget about your lunch

  14. The science learning center has past exams. use them as practice
  15. They will not look at your 166 grade just 114. Read the nursing student handbook you can find it by giggling Lehman college department of nursing handbook
