Lehman College 2018 Fall Generic BSN/ABSN applicants!

Published

Hello, everyone applying to Lehman's BSN/ABSN programs for Fall 2018!

I am currently working on my application and will very soon take HESI. I know application period does not start until January 1, but I thought I would create a thread so we could get in touch and support each other on the way to (keeping fingers crossed!) being accepted!

Has everyone recieved an email from (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) about their clinical site and documents they need? Bc I still havent.

I got mine last Friday. She said all the docs in the email should be turned in by Aug 9, which was this Thursday.

Do you think we will need to purchase the textbooks with access codes?

I hope not. I know there is some sort of online homework for pharm, but the prof does not say anything about it in the syllabus. However, when I got my Nursing Fundamentals Vol 1, it had a code on the inside of the cover.

I got mine last week Thursday and I was in Group 17. I'm just gonna guess that she may not be doing it in the order of which she said. If she is, you should go to the office or call to inquire about that.

Sorry, guys I just have to vent I'm so upset because they are so disorganized and inconsiderate. How is it that you give us less than a week to get clinical forms together when in my case that's medically impossible. My clinical sites want a double ppd so one ppd did and then another one week - three weeks later. If you give me literally a week to do all my clinical docs, how am I suppose to do it? it is not medically possible. If they sent it earlier they would have a leg to stand on and argue they have enough time but they didn't and when I went to the department they were all lost on what to do and complaining that (MODERATOR EDIT OF IDENTIFYING INITIALS) didn't leave any instructions on documents and didn't do her job correctly.

I understand everything you are saying. But (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) sent the emails before she went on vacation. She won't be back I think until next week. I went to the office the very next day with the paperwork, and yes they stated that she left in instructions or didn't even tell the chair Dr. gregoes what was going on. She directed me not to bring anything in until Fatima comes back. I took my medical form to my doctors, and they were kind enough to do it the same day, but other paper work I cannot fill out because it pertains to hospital information that we do not have. So we cannot be penalized for her indecisive, unorganized self.

Damn, i never recieved it and im in Group 3. Anyone have Fatima's email so I can get in contact?

Congratulations to everyone starting the program this upcoming fall! I was wondering what is the best way to study for the HESI? Any recommendations for study material? Thanks in advance.

A&P study the basic concepts. Pocket prep is good but a lot of it is not on the test. You need to know your adp, bone formation sequence when it breaks, know the difference in hinge and ball in socket. Stuck like that. I got a 96 so I only got one wrong. As far with math is basically ratio, algebra, some metric measurements. Make sure u know that. Ready comp was my last subject in the order I did it. And I was tired at that point. But you need to read it well and understand. Last but not least for critical thinking, make sure you know your ABC (airway, breathing, circulation) and just thinking about when you go to the doctors what would u like to be done to you. What questions would you think you would be asked before anything else. The hesi book is good to use for the test as well. Good luck.

I know how you feel. Thank god I was able to turn in all the required docs, including the ones my clinical placement requires. However, with only two weeks to go before the classes, I wish to know when exactly I, and other students in my group, need to report to the VA for a 2 day orientation. I still plan on vacationing, but since I have no idea when the orientation may be scheduled, I cannot plan anything. Also, someone above mentioned that (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) is on vacation???? Did she not say that she would be the one to deliver the docs to clinical sites, so the clinical sites can then proceed with their orientations? If she is vacationing, then who is taking care of the paperwork? I am just flabbergasted.

Exactly. If you noticed her door was closed, with a big pile of paperwork in her door folder that hasn't been touched. That is why the people and the chair person didn't know what was going on. Because nothing should have been sent without proper information. I'm going to go back during the week, because I was told to hold on to my documents since there were paper work that didn't pertain to me but was still needed to be handed in.. like department number, org name, department contact name etc. that's the screening process which I don't have to information to fill it out.

Hi everyone! Do any of you know where we should report for our first clinical? I know it is on campus, but on my schedule on cunyfirst it says OFF CAMPUS. I was just wondering if anyone will let us know...

For the first 3 clinicals we should be reporting to the T3 building in the lab which I believe is on the first floor.

Congratulations to everyone starting the program this upcoming fall! I was wondering what is the best way to study for the HESI? Any recommendations for study material? Thanks in advance.

I would study at least a month ahead of time. I decided to take my HESI in late January so that I could use all of January to study and I wouldn't have to worry about studying for my other classes too.

I bolded the materials I think will be the most helpful:

The main materials I used were: Elsevier's Hesi Admission's Assessment book, Pocket Prep's Hesi A2 app (Purple P with HESI in Apple's app store), and Ready For The Hesi A&P. I definitely suggest the former two. I think the Elsevier book is fine for reading comp and math but you're probably going to need/want an extra resource or two for A&P. I only purchased RFTH because I was super paranoid about the A&P section. It was helpful but I believe that Pocket Prep helped me the most for the A&P section. Cliffnotes' A&P Quick Review book is pretty good. I purchased it but didn't use it for the HESI. I'm currently reading it now to brush up on my A&P for nursing school and it's useful.

As for critical thinking, I did a lot of quizlet flashcards and used this photo.
