Hello, everyone applying to Lehman's BSN/ABSN programs for Fall 2018!
I am currently working on my application and will very soon take HESI. I know application period does not start until January 1, but I thought I would create a thread so we could get in touch and support each other on the way to (keeping fingers crossed!) being accepted!
It wasn't bad. There were about ten people in each group they called up. I had to get re-tested twice (on the same day). The first time the mask didn't fit me (they had different sizes), the second time my mouth wasn't rinsed out enough, and the third time it fit like a charm. Make sure you bring a bottle of water to rinse your mouth out during the test. For those who got it right the first time, it should only take about 5 minutes, 10 max.
What exactly is done with the mask?
What exactly is done with the mask?
Nothing much. You just get this yellow bag and place it on your head. They will spray some sweet mist into it and you are supposed to taste it. Then, you will put on the mask, then the yellow bag again. They will once again spray the sweet mist; however, this time it is 100% more concentrated. If you do not taste it, then your fit is perfect. if you can taste the mist, then you did not fit the mask too well.
Congratulations to everyone starting the program this upcoming fall! I was wondering what is the best way to study for the HESI? Any recommendations for study material? Thanks in advance.
I guess many people will give different advice since everyone studies in different ways. As for me, honestly, all I used to study was the HESI study book. And even then, I just glanced through. However, I would highly urge that you study A&P thoroughly! Math, in my opinion, was rather easy. Reading was not that bad, but at times, confusing. A&P, on the other hand, was really hard.
Has anyone gotten text messages from lehman for advising appointments for 2nd degree nursing students? Very confusing since the nursing department is handling our advising...
No, I have not. What did the message say? And why would we need advising? I mean we know exactly what our academic path is for the whole year.

I used the Elsevier Hesi A2 Study Book as well as the Hesi A2 Pocket Prep App. The app has a blue P as its icon. I used the book to brush up on my math and to look over what the reading questions would be like. That app however was my lifesaver. I paid about $12 for the full version and it was more than worth it. I studied the questions on that app using the exam builder to randomize 100 questions. It mixes the questions up and rarely repeats the same question. If you think you will struggle on the A&P, use that app for sure. As for Critical Thinking, theres really no way to study for that. Just remember ABC (Airway, Breathing, Circulation) ! Look that up and you will understand with no prob.

I used the Elsevier Hesi A2 Study Book and the Hesi A2 Pocket Prep App. I also bought the Cliffnotes Anatomy & Physiology Quick Review. YouTube videos were also helpful when studying for A&P.

Thank you! So I got the same information. So, I think if your first class is the clinical, then, obviously, you need to show up in uniforms.
