I have sooooo much anxiety right now. I'm going into my last semester of ADN in three weeks and my worst fear is failing.
All the time I hear stories of people failing a days before graduation, it is a very scary thought.
I'm a "B" student so I can go either way at this point. I just pray that I get through my last two classes.
I need a strong study plan and really need to focus. Failing would be a nightmare as it is a nightmare for anyone that has gone through it.
I have tried to mentally prepare myself for the worst, thinking if I do fail it is not the end of the world. I just need to hold on to that.
Anyone else have anxiety about the last semester?

I am in the same boat! I start back on August 22nd with a comprehensive exam over everything we have learned in the past 2 semesters! SO NERVOUS!!! I think the thing that makes me most nervous is a preceptorship at the end of the semester!
We can get through this for sure! We have made it through previous semesters without a problem! Study hard and you will be rewarded! Good Luck!

I had massive anxiety and so does everybody in your shoes... we understand!
Keep a healthy dose of fear to keep you on your toes, but don't let that fear overwhelm you.
Good luck to you and stay focused.

Fear of failing is normal and it can be something that pushes you forward or makes you cry and curl up in the fetal position:yawn:
I have a strong faith in God and I know that he puts me in situations to learn and grow as a person. You wold not be in nursing school if there wasn't a plan for you! Focus on yourself becoming a nurse, this last semester is just another step. You've had it this far! You'll do great and if you need the help get it, there's no shame or blame in admitting you need help.

There's not a single nurse that won't say that they had a fear of failing their last semester. It's normal, but you won't fail. You've made it this far and the last semester is just a prep semester for the NCLEX, but you have all the information you need at this point.
Relax..........enjoy being the upperclass nursing student and mentor the new nursing students so that good karma will be with you:D

I'm not in my last semester stages just yet, but I want to wish you the best of luck! You've already accomplished so much and came so far! Just put more into it, add a little extra study time if you need to, maybe try a more hands-on study method for certain classes if you need to! There's endless ways to improve or make yourself safe from failing! I believe you'll be just fine! You made it this far and I take you as someone who has a lot of passion for this...you'll be just fine! Good luck!
Thank you all so much for the reassurance. I have been studying over the summer but very little. Still trying to enjoy this calm before the storm...
Good luck to all of you too in your endeavors.
We will all succeed.

I agree, you made it this far so you just have to hang in there! Also, im going to the school you are currently at so you have to pretend, for me, that passing is possible! Lol

a reasonable level of anxiety is good for you. why?
increased endogenous catecholamines:
stimulate liver to kick out glucagon -> food for more metabolic work in your brain-> more alertness and responsiveness
dilate your pupils so as to increase your visual acuity
increase cardiac contractility-> increased cardiac output, the better to run your butt off
increase production of glucocorticosteroids to help you withstand stress and decrease inflammation
increase blood clotting so you don't bleed so much when the tiger claws you (ok, maybe not something you need in most settings)
see, it's not bad to have a little more alertness, a little better agility and speed, and a little better attention. i love physiology--it's the basis of everything we do.
if you're a b student, you're ok. keep doing what you've been doing.make like the mayonnaise. it says right there on the jar: keep cool, do not freeze.
