Hey guy! Just starting up this trend for Langara's January 2021 intake! I applied couple weeks ago, just exciting to see what awaits us. Who else has already applied?

Hey! I’m a UBC grad so I’ve never taken classes at Thompson Rivers, but this is a course equivalency chart Langara’s advising sent me a while back!

BIOL 1190 and 1191 Equivalencies Reference Chart.pdf

Hey. Do you happen to have the STATS equivalency chart? I'm currently studying at UBC and have BIOL 300 completed. However, BC transfer guide says that the equivalence of this course is STATS 1181 while some people have told me that BIOL 300 will be accepted.

I don’t have a chart, but I applied with STAT 200, which is equivalent to BIOL 300. I don’t see why they wouldn’t accept BIOL 300! I suggest emailing Langara Advising if you want to be sure though, they were very helpful.

Hey, is the application status on "Under review" or "Application accepted" for you guys?

I noticed my friend has his application still being under review, while a few people have application accepted.

Mine says “Application is Complete”. Isn’t it still too early for acceptances to be out? I thought it’s supposed to take 6-8 weeks.

Oops, my bad. I meant "Application is Complete", copied and pasted the wrong thing!

I had a friend email registration to confirm this.

If the application is under "Docs received - under review", it means that the application status isn't complete yet and an advisor is yet to review it. If the application is under "application is complete" it means that the application has already been reviewed by an advisor and that the applicant has met all the requirements.

However, just because someone's document is still stuck in that "Docs Received" phase, it means nothing bad. The advisors did say there were "more than usual" applications this intake, so it must be taking a little more time to get through everyone's applications.

does anyone know what qualifies for an A in Biol 1190 and 1191? I took those classes in Langara. I took it again in BCIT and transferred my credits and got 88 and it says in my unofficial transcript that it is an A-? I was wondering what tracks as an A since BCIT I think would classify 88 as an A. Also, does the department weigh my classes I took in Langara more than the equivalents I took elsewhere?

Hey! That's an amazing grade! But that 88 should be an A not an A- the threshhold for an A is 85 in BIO1190 & BIO1191. As for the department weighing the classes more in Langara I don't know , sorry.

Hey! I'm a current student at UBC and I'm wondering whether or not STAT203 at UBC would fulfill the STAT1124 requirement. STAT203 doesn't transfer to Langara but I'm not sure since it's the equivalent of STAT1124 it will be fine. Do you have any tips applying from UBC? The advisors mentioned how transfers happen outside of the transfer guide and some courses may be accepted anyways.

I’m not sure what you mean by “STAT203 doesn’t transfer to Langara”. It’s the exact equivalent to STAT 1124 according to the BC Transfer Guide, which means Langara will accept it as the equivalent. The advisor told me they accept both 203 and 200 as well. The only other tip I have is to make sure you’re applying with BIOL 153, because they don’t accept other A&P courses!

Thanks so much for the quick reply! Sorry, I must be confused haha. I was told that the credit needs to transfer towards the BSN degree. How was your experience applying? I was told that transfers for the nursing program are free and automatic, was that your experience as well? I'm slightly concerned I won't make the deadline for future intakes ?

No worries! I’m happy to help ?

The transferable credits will be for the courses required for admission, which are different from the courses in the actual nursing program. My understanding is that those nursing courses don’t transfer.

In terms of the application, it’s very easy. You just fill out some info, pay the fee, and make sure your UBC transcript gets sent to Langara before the application deadline! You have to pay for your transcript to be sent.
