Hey guy! Just starting up this trend for Langara's January 2021 intake! I applied couple weeks ago, just exciting to see what awaits us. Who else has already applied?

Hi,

I go to UBC and I have a 78% in the 5 courses. What GPA is that? (UBC doesn't give out GPA, so I'm not sure if my average is competitive enough).

Hi! 78% translates to a 3.33 GPA on a 4.33 scale. Good luck!

Hi, but isn't 76% also 3.33 GPA? If 76% and 78% both translate into 3.33, how can the admissions officer tell who is the better student?

Hi! I applied to the September 2020 intake with a 3.53 GPA but got waitlisted! I heard that the January intake is usually less competitive so I'm planning to apply to this one just incase... do you guys know if my September application will be dropped if I apply for the January one as well? Thank you!

please reply asap since the January 2021 intake is closing soon!! thanks again in advance.

Depends on what number on the waitlist. I would send them an email to be sure. But also I would apply for the Jan one, because I don't think your sept one will be dropped. But you should email to be sure, they're fast repliers. all the best

Hey!! I’m applying with exactly a 3.6 so I’m really hoping that’s strong enough to guarantee a spot! I’m really hoping for an acceptance letter come June/July.

To add to the response above, you may also want to try calling if you still have not received any response via email. The phone number can be found on the Langara website for registration/advisors

Hey people!

Im applying with a 3.8 GPA with 4 classes retaken :(. IM super nervous about it. Does anyone know if Langara gives priority to people who haven't retaken any classes?

Hi!

3.8 is a great GPA!! From what has been said, the number of times you've retaken a class(es) doesn't matter. The only thing I've heard regarding this topic is that they don't take the highest mark for a class, but the most recent. (ie - if you got an A- in your first try for 1190 but got a B+ the second try, they will take the B+ because that was your most recent mark even if you got a higher mark the first try.

Goodluck! ?

I’ve heard that some people take PHIL 1105 before starting the nursing program in January. Does anyone know if the credits would transfer over from UBC if I take the equivalent course?

Hi everyone! I'll have my BSc completed by the end of this year but, I wanted to confirm if I'll be seen as a degree holder by Langara for the Jan intake. No right? I'll have a degree before the program starts but during the time of applying, I still haven't finished degree requirements.

Unfortunately by the time your official transcript is evaluated by Admissions, you will not have graduated with your BSc. Because of this, you would be considered a non-degree applicant. Good luck!

Admissions will only be evaluating letter grades to distinguish between applicants. Typically when 2 students with the same GPA (e.g. 3.6) are competing for a seat, Admissions will check to see if any of the pre-requisites were repeated. Applicants who did not repeat a pre-requisite course are prioritized. Good luck!
