Hey guy! Just starting up this trend for Langara's January 2021 intake! I applied couple weeks ago, just exciting to see what awaits us. Who else has already applied?

Hey people!

Im applying with a 3.8 GPA with 4 classes retaken :(. IM super nervous about it. Does anyone know if Langara gives priority to people who haven't retaken any classes?

Admissions will only take in to consideration if an applicant repeated pre-requisite courses when 2 applicants of the same GPA are competing for a seat. For instance: if applicant X (3.7 cGPA) repeated Statistics while applicant Y (also 3.7 cGPA) did not, applicant Y will take priority for an offer of admission. Good luck!

I’ve heard that some people take PHIL 1105 before starting the nursing program in January. Does anyone know if the credits would transfer over from UBC if I take the equivalent course?

It is true that you may take PHIL 1105 prior to starting the BSN program. To confirm equivalency, it is best to contact a Nursing Admissions Advisor. You can also confirm if there is a recency requirement for this course which could be problematic if completed too early. Good luck!

I have a BSc degree from UBC but my GPA for the 5 pre-req courses is very low at 3.0. I have applied this time, but I am worried I won't get in. What do you think are my chances. I know they prioritize degree holder, but to what extent, because my GPA is significantly lower than my competitors.

Should I retake some courses this fall so I can have a better chance for the next intake?

Since I would want to apply for Sept 2021 by Jan 2021, I will have to take the biology requirement in one semester (Sept-Dec), which would be the BHSC1200 from BCIT. And I should retake an English and stats too. Im still thinking, about the course load, and if it would be manageable.

Hi! Langara does prioritize degree holders and I think you have a high chance of getting in. I haven't heard anyone that has a degree getting waitlisted (at least reading from any of these threads). If you do want to retake courses, just be aware that Langara takes the most recent grade.

I also was unsure about my GPA before, so what I did was I registered for courses that I was thinking of retaking then dropped them after getting my acceptance letter. (I wasn't a degree holder tho) Hope this helps and good luck!!

Hello! I've also applied for the January 2021 intake and I haven't heard anything from Langara yet (not even after submitting my application, just radio silence.) I'm increasingly impatient - I need to know if I got in! Hahaha

I have a biology degree from Dalhousie in Nova Scotia, but my overall GPA is a pretty unimpressive 3.1something, so we shall see. I can't wait until letters start coming out and we have our answers!

Right! I was also thinking that about not having heard literally anything from them at all.

The application deadline for this admission cycle was May 31st and we could hear back latest 8 weeks after so still gotta wait a while unfortunately.

For me, I got in with a 4.07 GPA with no prior degree.

It seems to vary here and there, but Langara's website says the competitive GPA average for our intake was 3.6. I believe there are a few people that got in to our intake with 3.5's and lower, so anything around that and higher is enough. I believe degree holders have priority too. I know a few classmates who were wait listed who got into our program, so just do your best!

Good luck out there! Hope to see you next year ?

Hey, how long did it take for you to find out you got in?

Hi, I got my acceptance email in mid-July for the January intake. It's a long time and all of us have been through it so I feel you guys!!

Good luck!

Hi everyone!

Any advice you can give me would be super appreciated! I previously planned on attending UFV, but have been wait listed and want to make sure I'm looking at all my options. I have completed all of Langara's pre-reqs except for the additional English elective. I want to take that at Langara, as well as retake Into to Soc. Do I need to, or can I, apply for the Foundation in Health Studies Citation to complete those two classes?

Thanks!

Hi all! I am currently working on my pre-reqs for the sept 2021 intake and was curious if anyone has tried/succeeded to enter the program with Thompson River's BIOL 1593 and 1693? Is the lab component mandatory?

Edit to add: I am currently an LPN and trying to enter the program via start to finish or advanced entry, whichever I'm granted first!

Hey! I’m a UBC grad so I’ve never taken classes at Thompson Rivers, but this is a course equivalency chart Langara’s advising sent me a while back!
