Hey guy! Just starting up this trend for Langara's January 2021 intake! I applied couple weeks ago, just exciting to see what awaits us. Who else has already applied?
Hey all
This maybe slightly off topic but I can't find much information elsewhere about this so thought I'd ask in this group.
I'm a potential international student applicant for the Nursing programme. I was just wondering if there are any other international students floating around who could give some insight into the process. Would be great if you're already on the programme. I'm aware I'd need to complete the pre reqs to be considered.
Little about me, I'm British, 35, and currently working in advertising and have done so for the last 10 years. I have a degree plus 2 diplomas in arts subjects.
thanks so much!

I emailed admissions mid June & they said they expect to send out offers in early July. Did anyone else happen to speak to them more recently than I did?

Got an email back from them a couple of days back. Due to the pandemic, they're a bit delayed in their process but expect to send them out early/mid-July.

They gave out the offers last Spring intake I believe on July 16th.
I wish they gave a little more of a specific reply! :(((( the waiting has been long
I'll email them as well.
EDIT: My bad; I had an unread email from an advisor. On July 7th, one of the advisors emailed saying that they are hoping to get the offers out in 2-3 weeks!!

Darn, seems like we have to wait until the very end of the month ?
Hi, I just recently graduated high school and I’m going to Langara in the fall to do my pre reqs. Does anyone have any tips or advice for getting through the 5 pre reqs? Also I’m nervous bc ik lots of ppl have applied w a degree for the nursing program and I feel like I won’t be as prepared for nursing school if I only do 5 courses.

Hey,
CONGRATS on graduating! In terms of the prereqs, just make sure you prioritize your time wisely. Especially if you choose to take three courses in the one semester, you might have due dates that overlap, tests on the same day, etc. So planning beforehand will really help you. Also, for Bio 1190/91 studying your notes out of class time will really help!
Goodluck ?
Hi folks, just a quick update. COVID-19 has obviously turned everyone's lives upside down and we're currently working hard to finalize applications and marks. Please stay safe and healthy. Masks on in stores and supermarkets! In an attempt to cut down on all the "when am I going to hear back?" emails we're getting, I wanted to let you know that we're hoping to get offers out by the end of the month. Good luck everyone!

Hey! Term 2 Student here.
I did what you're planning to do right now! I graduated high school, did my pre-reqs in one go and got in right after. In my intake there are a fair amount of us who are pretty much straight out of high school and without degrees so it's definitely possible.
I had the same feelings of nervousness before and as I was doing my pre-reqs (we pretty much all did) ! It'll be a stressful two or so semesters. During this time is where your study habits have to adapt and change to work with your learning and where the student resources and office hours come in handy. The two biology classes are the major ones so I recommend dedicating time to that.
I did other courses in addition to the five pre-reqs (two psychology courses and a sociology course which were pre-reqs for BCIT and VCC) and they're not vital to have but they helped in some concepts we learned in our nursing classes. Other people took pathophysiology because they are a part of Douglas's pre-reqs so that seems to be helpful as well (again, not essential, but nice to have if you have it ? ).
Good luck with your pre-reqs! Hope to see ya at our nursing student orientation someday ?
