Hey guy! Just starting up this trend for Langara's January 2021 intake! I applied couple weeks ago, just exciting to see what awaits us. Who else has already applied?

I did what you're planning to do right now! I graduated high school, did my pre-reqs in one go and got in right after. In my intake there are a fair amount of us who are pretty much straight out of high school and without degrees so it's definitely possible.
I had the same feelings of nervousness before and as I was doing my pre-reqs (we pretty much all did) ! It'll be a stressful two or so semesters. During this time is where your study habits have to adapt and change to work with your learning and where the student resources and office hours come in handy. The two biology classes are the major ones so I recommend dedicating time to that.
I did other courses in addition to the five pre-reqs (two psychology courses and a sociology course which were pre-reqs for BCIT and VCC) and they're not vital to have but they helped in some concepts we learned in our nursing classes. Other people took pathophysiology because they are a part of Douglas's pre-reqs so that seems to be helpful as well (again, not essential, but nice to have if you have it ? ).
Good luck with your pre-reqs! Hope to see ya at our nursing student orientation someday ?
Thank you so much, this was really helpful! Were you able to do these added courses all in 2 semesters or did you spread them out?

you weren't refused! waitlisted is always still a chance ?
Can I ask what GPA you had?
That's true, I will stay hopeful! Thanks ?
I have a 3.52 with the 5 pre-req courses.
It's unfortunate that Langara doesn't look at your overall GPA, because then I would have a 3.87, which would have been much better.
Did you get offered a seat?

3.52 is still great! literally last year people with that GPA were accepted, so its just because of the competitiveness of the intake :)))
I haven't heard back yet for anything :(((( super anxious...

Do you know if it makes a difference if you do your pre-reqs at a different school? I've always wondered if the schools that offer nursing programs give priority to past/current students.
Stay optimistic! My fingers are crossed for you!! ?
What is your GPA if you don't mind me asking?

I don't think it matters if you've done the prereqs at a different school because the grades convert according to the Langara system, but I can't be too sure because I've done all my prereqs here (as in langara hahaha)
thank you :((( fingers crossed for you too!!
