Langara January 2021 intake

Published

Hey guy! Just starting up this trend for Langara's January 2021 intake! I applied couple weeks ago, just exciting to see what awaits us. Who else has already applied?

has anyone received any acceptance emails yet? mine still says 'application is complete'

I have a degree from UBC and still no update on my application status!

Ahhh okay! Thank you! I thought the degree holders would have already gotten an acceptance email because they get in regardless.... hmm weird....

Hey, same! I don't think the acceptance letters will be coming tonight, but thinking maybe tomorrow or in a few days for those who do get accepted???

That's interesting. So if you already have a degree it's automatic acceptance to the Nursing BSN presuming you have all the pre reqs?

Yes, but I think this intake is the last intake that they are giving prioritized acceptance to degree holders. I have heard that starting from Fall 2021 everyone will be accepted based on their marks from the GPA of the five prereqs, regardless of if you have a degree or not.

Of course, you should confirm this with an advisor though!

Do you have a source for this? I was planning on grinding out my BSc in the event I didn't get in for the fall 2021 intake... ?

Near June I was emailing an advisor about how bachelors get priority for the program. Here the advisor said something along with the following:

"Spring 2021 will be the last term that we prioritize Bachelor’s Degree holders. Starting with Fall 2021 everyone will compete for seats based on his/her marks in the 5 pre-Nursing classes"

I would suggest that you email an advisor to confirm this, however. Should always be sure! ?

That's not true, because I have a Bsc. degree but I got rejected for September 2020 because I had a really low GPA (3.0) for the 5 pre-reqs. You still kind of need to have a competitive enough GPA haha

Oh, okay!! I was not aware that there was competitiveness even with degree holders hahaha. I did assume there was a cut off eventually though

That's unfortunate. I will definitely email advising to double-check. I wonder how this will change the GPA cutoff in the coming years or if they will add more pre-req courses for admission.

Same I think its safe to say that as long as we don't get an email today or tomorrow we won't get waitlisted. This is the only time having waited 4 months for my application that I don't want to receive an email from Langara LOL

Sounds like everybody got waitlisted :P I am also waitlisted with 3.59 , 2 courses retaken!

What time did you guys get your emails/what is the the time stamp under "status date" ?

Edit: for those of you who have gotten a response!
