I know this has probably been posted a million times on this forum, so here it goes again..
I'm scheduled to take the NCLEX-RN in a week and a half. I took Kaplan, which finished 2 weeks ago. Below are my scores:
Diagnostic=63%, Qt1=53%, QT2=70%, Qt3=55%, QT4=63%, Qt5=63%, Qt6=68%, Qt7=61%, Readiness=73%, Qbank average= 58% w/new questions only but it's currently is a 66% because I have no retaking some of the questions I got wrong before.
I really don't feel like I've learned anything from Kaplan, but I know so many people swear by it! I feel like I'm not prepared to take this test at all! I don't know anything! But then I ask myself will I ever be prepared? Do people go into the NCLEX and say to themself "I know everything I need to know to pass this test?" Or should I just go go into the test and hope for the best? People keep telling me that as long as I do all the questions Kaplan has and read/understand the rationales that I'll be fine. I sorta believe them because of Kaplan's high pass rate, but I can't help but wonder "what if?" What are your thoughts? I know that if I don't feel prepared that I should wait, I just really want to get this thing over with. I hate waking up every morning and sitting on the computer all day doing those stupid questions!!
Please let me know what you think!! Thank you :loveya:
Hello I see you took your exam today. Well I take mine in 4 days and my scores are very similar to yours maybe off by a number. I did all my Qbank questins and Iam hoping it gets me through the nclex to pass. I wanted to ask you did the decision tree help you for the exam and did the exam seem easier to you? Iam very nervous. Congradulations in advance.
I actually took my exam yesterday and found out today that I passed. As you can see I wasted no time changing my username to "RN"at the end, I'm just so excited to finally be an RN!!
I did use the decision tree, but not in a step by step fashion like how kaplan taught me (i.e.- 1.id the topic, 2. assess vs implement, 3. maslow, etc...) But I always IDed the topic, and from there I would eliminate the incorrect choices one by one. I also used the ABCs and Maslow sometimes too. I really feel like every question in unique and the decision tree doesn't apply to every single question.
I thought the nclex was a little easier than Kaplan. My recommendation is to do every single question kaplan has available and to read and understand each rationale. As long as you do that you'll do great!
Best of luck to you!
Hi,
I just wanted to let you all know that I passed my NCLEX on Wednesday. I was so distressed over this one test---I studied but I just wasn't sure what to expect. On the day of the exam, everything happened so quickly but I felt confident and for the most part I will say that Kaplan did a great job. As others have mentioned---doing the questions and understanding the rationale is extremely helpful because the test is really just critical thinking. I had one calc, a boat load of the SATA type----it got to the point where I suspected,if I got the previous question correct I would get one of these, I'm not sure just my own suspicion. I also had a few meds---male impotence. The computer shut off at 75 questions.
To all of you studying and preparing, trust God, and trust yourself---it's doable and the worst part is waiting to see your name at the Board of Nursing website---I have hardly slept in the 2 days since taking the test .
God bless you all and thanks a bunch for your encouraging words.

Hmmm, I know the 08-09 version comes with a cd(if you buy used make sure the seller includes the cd) but the Kaplan "book" or "cd" doesn't have q bank included unfortunately. As far as I know, the Q bank is only included within the Kaplan course. Boy it would be nice to buy the q bank on cd, although I'll bet it'd be expensive!
